*Takes cleansing breath.*
Okay, unless I find some other reason to put this off, I'm sending emails to Hasbro today after I get home from work. Wish me luck.

Good luck! Sunstar, how much influence do you have with this kind of decision? Just wondering because a fanmovie I'm helping with sent in a form recently too.

Would that be Journey of the Spark?
EDIT: This is the permission letter I will be sending to Hasbro and its PR department.
Dear Hasbro Representative,
My name is David A. Youngquist, and I represent a group of My Little Pony fans working on a project. We wish to make a fan animation as a tribute to the My Little Pony brand and to celebrate its 30th anniversary. We want to ask for Hasbro's permission to use its copyrights and trademarks related to the My Little Pony brand in making this animation.
We will observe any requirements Hasbro has to use their copyrights and trademarks. This project will be completely not-for-profit and viewership and distribution of the resultant animation will be free to all who want to see it. It is not meant to infringe on any of Hasbro's copyrights or trademarks. We do not claim any rights to the results of this project or Hasbro properties past or present. This project will also keep with the spirit of the My Little Pony brand.
Our project would be to make an original animation divided into five 20-24 minute episodes. It will star ponies from Generation 1 in a setting taking inspiration from the My Little Pony television series, specials, and cinematic movie made in the 1980’s. Any suggestions and input from Hasbro would be appreciated.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
David A. Youngquist

I didn't send it because now I'm wondering if I should mention people working on it might want to use their work as part of the professional portfolios.

No, it's called Regal. I think Journey of the Spark has already been authorised.
There's a request form online that goes straight through to the right people but it doesn't let you type very much in. It has a very limited word count. So if you're using the form you may need to shorten it. But it looks good to me.

Well, the emails are sent. Hopefully they'll approve. Maybe I will get to talk to someone about this at the MLP Fair this summer.
