After the farce that was season three, my expectations for the new season are very low. More slice of life, even less good versus evil, and more random stuff. MLP:FIM could take pointers from the WINX. Even though WINX has season long villains, they still have slice of life episodes. Tritanis is their best villain so far, and I love the syrenix forms.
My main problem with FIM is that it has so much potential that is being ignored. The Elements are just a macgruffin used twice to stop a villain, and once to free a villain. Next to nothing is known about them. Where did they come from? Who made them? Why were they made? Who else used them besides Celestia and the current bearers?

Well, the series' best storyteller and provider of lore has taken a vacation, so they probably won't cover anything like that.
If they don't do anything with Princess Twilight, I will personally blame the fandom and say "bronies did it" whenever something goes wrong.

Except Season 3 wasn't a farce. You just didn't like it.
I can already see I was wasting my breath when I asked you two to give it a chance, since it's obivous you're both determined not to hate S4. Look, please just do themselves and the rest of us a favor and don't watch it. Please, just move on to another work that does capture your interest or just focus on aspects of MLP you do like. I think you're both taking the series WAY too seriously for your own goods, and this is coming from someone who can be pretty uptight about MLP.

Alright enough is ENOUGH! jeezu... Will you all please PLEASE just give this a rest. All this back and forth bickering over how good a seaon was is just getting on my nervus. Ive kepted quited untill now but I feel its time I said something.
As I have stated time and time again I will give Season 4 a chance. It may surprise you. No one is asking you to like it, no one is gonna give you a ton of reasons why you are wrong for not liking it. All someone is aksing is to give it a chance, save judgment UNTIL you have seen at least ONE episode PLEASE just give this bickering a rest. I dont like coming here and seeing arguments over something that is trivial.....
I think I should not come here for awhile.

I'm perfectly willing to give it a chance. I might enjoy the episodes on a case by case basis. However, I will be sorely disappointed if they made Twilight a princess and did nothing with it.

Its called character development. It happens ALOT, in a movie your following the main character, other then you know who they are you dont know what their role is untill much later in the film they can go from being a nobody every day joe on the street to being the guy who saves a building/the president/the world Im sure in Season 4 they will develop Twilights character even more.

Then why ascend her NOW? If her position as a princess is not important at this time, why did it have to so soon? I justified it as a reason to shake things up to keep show from getting stale. However, if they just continue on like nothing's happened, then what's the point?

I don't want to sound, Al, but where are you hearing these rumors that they won't do much with Twilight's new position as a princess? This is literally the first I've heard of this.

derpibooru.org/436628This is more about the comic, but reading what's come out of the creative staff, I fear this goes for the show as well.

Al: They often want to get a story line that is a sub plot to the season out. It happens. Throughout a last season there was a small hint to a sub plot then it becomes more developed in the later season. The most common examples are in Police dramers like Law and Order or NCIS: These often have a sub plot that runs throughout the season then comes to a head either at or near the end.
Here is what I believe: Because someone wanted to get a movie out that was set right after Season 3 they wanted to use Twilacorn, why she was in the movie as an alicorn. I believe they will develop Twilight more through Season 4 perhaps making her a reluctant princess or something, but this will allow her to grow.
As for the comics that is a completely different section and more often than not its non-cannon to the TV show. You seen IDW's Transformer comics? Some set right after the movie? Or some with movie/Season3 characters with the first ones? Some characters that where killed off come back? That is common place with comics. The MLP strips are running a line more a bridging gap with Season 2 - 3 the changelings where defeated in Season 2 final, this is their payback. I’ve not read them all yet but some will be stories set either before/during/after the main storyline in the TV show or may even run parallel with it. As for Twilight they will either catch up to the ascension or go in to it with more detail. I’ve only seen bits of a story line of Shining Armour and Cadence at high school don’t know if this is a flashback story plot of a build up on how the two met and why he wasn’t around from Season 1 until the end of Season 2. But I will read the comics to find out.

What's come out of the writing team is just fine as is, Al. You're letting yourself get worked up over something that is far, FAR from confirmed, and there's everything Zero pointed out.

No arguing, just a slightly heated discussion. I will watch season 4, but I have very little hope for it.
Season three had potential. Sombra could have been a season long villain with Twilight having to become an Alicorn to defeat him on the last episode. That makes so much more sense then the create new magic, instant Alicorn. That idea is very weak in my mind because then Alicorns should be popping up left and right. Making new spells is easy for any unicorn.
I'm not complaining. I am only pointing out how weak season three turned out to be. It is my opinion that Season Three was a farce. Please respect my opinion.
I am a professional author, and I feel I could do much better with FIM then the writers have done. Due to being a professional, I see things a bit differently then the layperson would.

Then please respect the opinions of those who liked Season 3. It's just as valid as your opinion. You might be a professional, and I'm not saying this to sound insulting, but your opinion is not the do-all-be-all of FiM.
And as I said before: 13 episodes.
