I found some scans I did of MLP Comic #1 a while back! Enjoy! ;D Sorry the scans are a bit small, for some reason this is as big as Flickr will display them. That's all I have time to post for now, but I'll put more up later. ^_^

I will laugh until it hurts if Lauren Faust gets a chance to make fun of this.

...Um, what the heck was up with Sparkler and that pebble? I do hope the rest of the pages help that make sense, because that was...random...
And now I'm having Godspell musical number flashbacks...
I'll put a pebble in my shoe ... I shall call the pebble dare (I shall call the pebble dare) We will walk, we will talk About walking. Dare shall be carried, And when we both have had enough I will take him from my shoe, singing, "Meet your new road!"
....Yeah. Random. >.>
See, this is why I prefer fandom!Sparkler. Lightning bolt powers FTW!
As weird as the cloning mirror is, though, I have to admit that it kinda makes sense. I mean, at least it explains why the kids look exactly like their parents. Still completely random, though. XD

...Um, what the heck was up with Sparkler and that pebble? I do hope the rest of the pages help that make sense, because that was...random... Not really, those two pages are all there is of that story. XD But comic!Sparkler was always looking for shiny things for her collection, I guess a mood ring stone was close enough for her! And speaking of comics!Sparkler . . . she has a story in the middle there . . . ~ ~ ~ ~ I love seeing the drawings that kids sent in back in the day! Sometimes the comics people would take requests, too--nothing too specific, but they'd oblige kids who wrote in "write a funny story about Trickles" or something. For some reason the picture of Sparkler biting her hooves always cracks me up. The toad, on the other hand, is terrifying.Majesty's robe/cloak is awesome.

I had this one in my colletion. I never wrote in. I loved the baby pony story. For a time, I actually believed babies came from mirrors. That all changed the day Nana, one of our horses, gave birth to Crystal Widow, who would grow up to give me Bryon.

...MANCHESTER?!
[hack][patooie][other elaborate displays of disdain]
Er. Thank you for posting these! Considering most of the things I write are set in the 80s UK, this should come in handy.

Was this the Everyone-Pick-On-Spike issue?
And yes, that toad is terrifying.
I also love how Lickety-Split happily turns the mountains into ice cream with nary a thought for how her actions might affect the ecosystem. Wait...isn't that her backcard story?
Those pictures from the kids are adorable! I like Thistle. Not a generic pony name, though I note that the artist was from Scotland...
I like the sea pony comic. So cute! And sea ponies never get enough love...
*eyes Anna warily* ...Do you support Liverpool or something?

Ah, okay. That explains the utter hatred, then. ;D I don't really pay much attention to soccer/football/calcio, and when I do it's only for the Italian teams because my dad's a huge Inter-Milan fan and I want to know what he's shrieking about when he's sitting at the edge of his seat staring at the television, wringing his hands and alternately mumbling and shouting in Italian. Anyways, back on topic. Why is that thing in the advertisement called a "picture disk"? I know it's not a CD, and it plays music, so I assume it must be a record, but where does the "picture" part come from? Did it come with a turn-the-page storybook or something? Or am I missing some facet of 1980s jargon?

Uh..go Red Wings? Hockey's my sport.
I do believe that's a record. I think it's called a picture disk because there's a picture covering the entire record. My mom might still have one of the "The Fox and the Hound" soundtrack somewhere which was also covered completely by a picture.

As far as I know, it's just a record. Though I think it does have pictures on both sides of the record, I guess that's where the "picture disc" thing comes from. Anyway, it didn't come with a story book, but it did tell a story . . . THROUGH SONG! Basically, it was a series of songs about ponies going to Tootsie's birthday party. Each pony featured (Tootsie, Cherries Jubilee, Applejack, Bow-Tie, Posey, and Lickety-Split) got her own song, plus there were opening/closing songs. Some of them are on YouTube. The video clips are just spliced on from various movies/episodes that had those ponies in them. I haven't loaded the last two songs yet.

I talked with my mom. We do believe the term "picture disk" refers to records with pictures on them. They were big in the 80's. She said we've actually got quite few Disney movie soundtracks on them.

i have that record <3 i got mine recently, but it came as only a record. it spins at 33 rpm, rather then the common 45 for records of that size, and does have a different picture on the b side, including some ponies that aren't in the story a picture disc is usually a record where, rather then their being a label in the middle, the label looked to cover the whole record, including the playing surface. they were usually considered collectors items. i been collecting them since i was tiny, and still have goofy and roland rat ones the ones i have, they way their usually made is they take a stiff plastic disc, stiffer then most records, stick the picture by way of a paper label on top of that, and the the record itself is a very thin layer of film stuck on top of that. they are, therefore, infamous for being lower quality then regular records, i have some that actually state this on the records themselves. another method was to basically make two single sided transparent records and sandwich the picture label in between. i'm not sure why they didn't do it that way more often. this record is the former the recording, as you can hear, is british, i think was only available here via the horse shoe system, and was recorded by a now defunk studio called "bullseye", who mostly specialized in making promotional records such as this the record was later released properly, but as a cassette titled "my little pony - seven songs and a story". i think this version came with a book, but i'm not sure. both are naturally kinda rear. i orgasmic for a week when i got mine the last song was full of what could now be seen as inferno's "lickety split, you are my ice cream pony", i always assumed that's why it wasn't uploaded yet

I love the fact I can find these comics here!
I plan to use the 'baby from mirror' story to be what Mother ponies tell their children where foals come from until their old enough to know the truth. (kinda like the old 'stork' story)
Majesty's mirror briefly shows up in a story, mostly as a communication device to talk to the other ponyland rulers.
And medley's making it rain is used in a chapter to show her using what little weather control abilities the pegusai still have she uses to make music.
