This episode is probably one of my favorite episodes of season 7. Shows that even rivals can get along . Anyway here's:
The Perfect Pear:
The episode opens up as Applebloom is looking around at the market. She runs into Grandpear who sells pear jam. Apparently he lived in Ponyville before. You'll see why he moved back later. She takes the pear jam and tries to buy it but Grandpear gives it to her for free. For the most part I like Grandpear. Actually during the beginning and end I like him . Applebloom brings back pear jam and they hide it from Granny Smith. Why? Find out after the theme.
The episode opens back up as Applejack and Big Mac scolds Applebloom for bringing pear jam in the house. Apparently there's a feud between the apples and the pears. No one really knows why. Granny Smith gets mad if they bring it up so they never asked her again. Yeah he was. Time to get to the bottom of why there's a feud. Goldie Delicious would know the answer since she knows everything about the apple family.
They go to see her and ask about the feud. Yes it is Goldie. She seems worried but agrees to talk about it. As always we'll split up each part of the story into parts.
What Goldie remembers:
See Sweet Apple Acres wasn't the only farm in Equestria. Kinda like the Hooffields and Mccolts. See the apples and pears had a rivalry when they first started. Wow that's kinda silly I think. I see where Applejack got her idea for taking care of the trees. Even blankets for the trees. Again I see where this is going.
Every Pear and Apple were rivals except two. Bright Macintosh and Pear Butter. I love this part . Bright Macintosh gives Pear Butter the nickname Buttercup. Yes they are Applejack. Yep you're mother was a pear Applejack. Believe it or not this shocked me too when I saw this episode.
They're half pear. They loved each other very much but that's all Goldie knows. They go to see Burnt Oak.
What Burnt Oak remembers:
They ask about their parents' relationship since Burnt Oak and their dad were buddies. One time they had a race to see who got done the quickest. Bright Mac was winning till he got distracted. Uh oh he got her in trouble. But then Bright Mac decides to fess up. This makes Grandpear mad.
I can see why they don't want to talk about it but it won't make sense till later. Burnt Oak goes onto say Grandpear wouldn't know it was their father's fault. He would go over and fix the water silo for days which he didn't mind at all. Burnt Oak even knew their mom. Ms. Cake knew their mom as well. Oh that's cool. Big Mac asks if it would be okay to hear more stories about their dad.
What Ms. Cake remembers:
They ask about her and their mom's friendship. Wow that's awesome their mom convinced Ms. Cake to pursue baking. She was known as Chiffon Swirl when their mom knew her. That's cool how her mixing those ingredients Pear Butter gave her and she got her cutie mark. Buttercup helped a lot with her baking. That's cool.
One day Ms. Cake wanted to surprise her with a cake and caught her with Bright Mac. They spot her but she promises not to tell anyone about them being together. Except Granny Smith sees them. Uh oh. They are in love and nothing can stop them. She tells Ms. Cake about her day with Bright Mac. She got him a guitar. She sings "You're in my head Like a catchy song". Good song too. Its a sweet song too . It even shows them seeing each other. She even tells him she loves him which is what he was gonna say.
OMG he carved their cutie mark into a rock. That's awesome. Oh no. The pears are moving which means they won't be together anymore. It was hard on their parents too. Wow a rivalry that almost tore them apart. There's one more pony to see. Grand Mayor.
What Grand Mayor did:
They ask her what she did for the couple. Bright Mac wanted to propose to Buttercup and get married so no matter what they couldn't be separated. This part always makes me tear up. They planted seeds of their own to commemorate their bond. This also will come into play in the end. They announce their in love and Granny Smith and Grandpear aren't having it. But when its all said and done its Grandpear who leaves unhappy and Granny Smith decides to welcome Pear Butter into the apple family as Buttercup.
OMG this part also had me tearing up. And so that's the story of how the pears and apples saw eye to eye. They decide to talk to Grandpear about what happened. When it comes down to it Grandpear came back to tie up lose ends and stop the feud that's been going on way too long.
They take him to see Granny Smith and they make up after they tell her what they've been doing all day. I love this episode . Big time. Exactly Applejack . And remember those seeds Bright Mac and Buttercup planted? It sprouted into a tree that has both pears and apples. Well said Applejack. Well said. This ends the episode.
Good points:
- The entire episode. I mean wow. Even when you thought this wouldn't work out it did.
- "You're in my head like a catchy song" was great.
10/10. Great episode. Next up is Fame and Misfortune.
