The odd things that come to mind in the shower. I had an original idea.
Logan is a 1/4 scale diesel engine on the Big Valley Railroad "The Biggest Little Railroad in Big Valley." The railroad is owned by Guss and Mary, a kind old couple who love trains. They take tour groups along the railroad through the picturesque scenery of Big Valley. People come from all over the state and beyond to ride the rails. However, this is during the day.
At night, the forces of Nightmares have gained the upper hand. The Archduke of Nightmares has created Night Riders, evil race cars that can deliver nightmares so fast they can't be caught. He picks Big Valley as the testing ground, and the people of Big Valley are suffering from constant nightmares because the good dreams can't make it in time.
Sensing the love imprinted on the trains of the B.V.R.R., King Morpheus gives them life and the mission to deliver dreams. He give them the magic of dream tracks, tracks they can cast out of head of them wherever they want to go and typically in the air. They have the speed and power to go wheel to wheel with the Night Riders.
Characters
Logan Locomotive: Logan is the newest engine of the railroad. As model of a Bo-Bo Amtrak F40PH engine, he's the fastest as the bunch. However, he's the least experienced.
Stacey Steamer: Stacey is a steam locomotive. Based on a 4-4-0 Class S3, she has a more refined personality and prefers to take of their primary mission of delivering dreams than fighting the Night Riders. However, she's perfectly capable to bowl over the nasty little cars if they get in her way.
Clarence and Clarice Clacker: Clarence and Clarice were bought at the same time, and act as twins. Based on the 2-6-6-4 Mallet, they like bashing around Night Riders as they have the power to send a whole squadron flying. They often work together and seem to think on the same wavelength making them the perfect team.
Donald Diesel: Donald is the other diesel engine of the B.V.R.R. Based on the EMD GP Diesel-Electric, he is the loner of the group. He doesn't like mingling with the others and prefers to stay focused on the task at hand. He also prefers the company of nature. Logan looks up to him as a mentor since they're the only diesel engines.
Patricia Puffer: Based on the 4-6-4 Hudson, Patricia is the second youngest train on the railroad. She loves having fun and makes her dream tracks more like a rollercoaster.
Allen the American: Based on the classic 4-4-0 American, Allen is the oldest train on the railroad. The others look up to him as their mentor and leader. He isn't all that fast or powerful, but he knows Big Valley like the hub of his drive wheel, and is very crafty and wise. He typically stays at the rail yard, but will join the others when they need more help.
Toy Trains: An unintended consequence of bringing the 1/4 scale engines to life, Morpheus brought the model trains in the dioramas to life. They aren't very intelligent and cannot form dream tracks. All they can say is choo-choo and laugh their own stupid antics. Mostly comic relief.
Raccoons: A family of raccoons helps the engines with the rail yard at night. They don't speak, but are quite intelligent and expressive.
Night Riders: Evil race cars charged with delivering nightmares at break neck speed. Mean and nasty, they'll attack in swarms. They are less powerful than the engines, but much more agile. They are also bestial in their behavior despite clearly being intelligent. They don't speak, only revving their engines as if they're growling or snarling.
King Morpheus: Morpheus is the ruler of dreams. He crafts good dreams for people across the planet. He brought the trains to life, and they will seek his advice when they need it.
Archduke of Nightmares: Morpheus' evil Nephew, the Archduke mastered Morpheus' craft of making dreams, but instead makes nightmares so he can build his power on the anxiety the nightmares bring to people. He created the Night Riders to outpace his uncle.
Guss and Mary: Guss and Mary the owners of the B.V.R.R. They and their staff take tourists on rides through a park. They don't know about their engine's nighttime adventures.
Well, what do you think?
