For your amusement I give you one single page in my MLP RPG notebook... [note: this is a 6-sided die game]
Bending the Laws of Engagement Let's say, for the moment, that you won the lottery when rolling the dice for your character's ability scores. You got a straight set of 6's for every stat. You rolled a 6 for your hit points. You somehow have another 6 for Defense and chosen the best talents and skills imaginable. Your pony is going to be invincible!
Well... No. Not quite. That's why there's a Referee. It is true that the higher your stats, the better your character does in the game situation. The problem comes from the fact that you suceed too well at everything you do. You use your 'Cute' talent to flirt with a handsome Clydesdale and then he falls madly in love with you. He follows you everywhere you go, and I do mean EVERYWHERE. He will not leave you alone for one second of one minute of the day. He's constantly pronouncing his love for you, reading bad poetry and belting out songs in the middle of the night, right outside your window.
Or it's entirely possible that he'll just admire your attention and move on when you do. A smart player never, ever attempts to max out her stats.
Bad things happen when you do. ;D
