...is interested in buying Hasbro. Is there any truth to that and have the negotiations gone anywhere? I'd love to see FIM get a wider international spotlight in foreign countries. Sure, it's spread out to some places, but not many, overall.

As in recently? Because there were rumors after Disney acquired Lucas' company they might go after Hasbro. I doubt they would. Hasbro is a toy company first even if they have a large media wing, and Disney concentrates on purely media companies. Besides, I think Hasbro has a license to make Disney related merchandise already.

Veru true, but suppose it did, what do you think we could expect from such a merger?

I suspect very little would change. Disney has been very smart to not mess with what works. I don't think they'd change the personnel as long as they're churning out quality product. If anything, they might move the more successful Hub shows to the Disney channel. There might be a bit of fight when it comes to fan works though. Disney doesn't like fair use.

Considering what Hasbro has been doing lately, it doesn't sound like much would change as far as Fair Use is concerned, either.

I was wondering if that might happen. If it does, I'd love to see a MLP ride in Disneyland. Although, another friend of mine said that Disney buying Hasbro is not going to happen. :/

Not surprising. As Al said, Disney is a movie and TV show company, while Hasbro produces toys.

They're trying to get episodes off Youtube but how Content ID works (you submit audio and video files to be flagged) also pegs parodies and reviews using audio and video from the episodes. People are finding ways around it. And before anyone says anything, Fighting is Magic was not Fair Use.

Sounds like Hasbro is finally coming to their senses and becoming executive meddlers like all the other companies like Viacom, Fox and Lionsgate. Not that I wanted that to happen. Now, this means it'll be harder to find pony-related stuff on YouTube.

This does nothing to fan animations, just stuff using audio and video from the actual show.

Disney is not going to buy Hasbro. The only reason they were ever interested in Hasbro was to get at Hasbros up and coming ghost writers. I have already agreed to stay with Hasbro, but Disney is allowed to borrow me. Hasbro does have one of the best ghost writing teams around.
