I'm more tempted by the day to send a query letter to Hasbro about making something MLP related. If they're okaying this, I'm sure I can come up with something that would get their attention.

Well, the trailer is out and oh boy does this look weird.
Twilight and Spike go through a portal that turns Twilight into a human (they ditched the ears and ponies tails but they're still weird colors) and Spike into a dog.
Sunset Shimmer appears in this as the school's Alpha Imbicile.
They're having Twilight hang around a guy who resembles Shining Armor but has a different emblem.
I'm going to go see this, but I don't hold out much hope. The only thing I'm hoping for is it's so hilariously bad it's at least fun to watch.

I guess the colours are so the audiance can still ID the mane six It knida reminds me of the TF episode (NOT THE ANIMATED ONE in Gen 2) Where HOT ROD, Ultra Magnus, Kup, Springer and Arcee where changed into humans somthing about you have your "powers" removed and how are you gonna survive in a world you no nothing about.
Im sure they used this subplot in a movie once

That would be Only Human. Rodimus was clearly modeled after Swartznagger. (SP) Magnus was done late middle age, Arcee was done well, and Springer was cute as a human.
In one of my TF fics, a crossover between TF and CSI, the Transformers used human avatars to talk to interact with the humans after members from all three CSI shows were kidnapped by the decepticons. Their human names were a play on their names. Rodimus became Rodger Dimus. I had fun with the names.
I am still on the fence on this.

Because they can.
This Equestria Girls business has driven me to watch the Mighty Ducks cartoon of all things. When will June 16 just get here so I can see this and actually form on an informed opinion.

Good luck. Here's hoping it's not as bad as it looks. If it's an alright flick, I might check it out.

The reason the Cons kidnapped Horatio and Ryan from the CSI Miami team, Sara and Nick from the Las Vegas team, and Flack and Messer from the NY team was because the Cons needed bargaining chips to force the Autobots to reveal to them what happened to Galvatron. Starscream is pulling the strings, and the Autobots made sure he couldn't get to the usual targets. Plus, Starscream did not want another international incident.
Rodimus quickly found out about the kidnapping through a stratigally placed Blaster and sent Jazz, Bumblebee, and Hound to the three cities to bring aboard some of the CSI's to work the case. They did try to keep the fact they were not human a secret, which was blown by Rodimus having technical difficulties with his holographic human avatar.
I think I'll wait until I hear what others are saying and see it for myself.

wasnt there some TF comic that gave the Transformers holo amitters that cerated human avatars of them selves? I remember seeing on for Optimus Prime, being a gruff trucker in his 60's with the plaid shirt and cap. And he had a beard too

We got a massive info dump about a week before this hits theaters.
We got a second trailer. Spike talks as a dog and anyone who hears him can understand him. The crown stolen is also the Magic Element of Harmony and the portal thing is just sitting in a room with no protection or anything. We have "Twilight is now human" jokes too.
The climax is also a rehash of the pilot of FiM. When Sunbitch is turns into a gargoyle by the crown, Twilight and the alternatives somehow summon the Elements of Harmony and zap her just like Nightmare Moon was zapped in the pilot including the rainbow tornado.

... ... ........ ........................ ............................................................................................................................................................................................................ They couldn't just retell the original pilot with a an extra 45 minutes and bigger budget tacked on? That seems like it would have been easier to do, and wouldn't have alienated so many bronies.

I don't have much hope for this now. I really should have said yes when Hasbro asked me to ghost write it. I know I would have come up with something 20% better. Now, I'll wait for it to come out on Demand as a free movie and watch it then.

Yeah, when you see something broken, you offer to fix it, not spit on it in disgust.

The concept isn't even broken, technically. An extended retelling of the Pilot would have been fine (even welcomed if it gave what happened with Luna a 1,000 years ago more explanation) if they had just allowed it to be an extended retelling of the Pilot.
