Does This Sound Too Sophisticated

I will come out and said I think Equestria Girls is an insult to teenage girls' intelligence. Trying to take something current popular with everyone else and turn into what focus groups claim appeals to that demographic speaks volumes of Hasbro's attitude towards them. My friend and I agree, Equestria Girls is not going to expand the appeal of My Little Pony. It's just going to alienate a lot of fans they already have.
Personally, I would like to see a TV-Y7 MLP show geared towards older kids (10 and over.) However, they should stick to the ponies and instead have the plot speak to teenagers. Have the ponies grow with the audience and address the issues teenagers are concerned about.
When many teenagers lay in bed at night they don't care about what they'll wear tomorrow or the school dance. At for me what concerned me most was finding where I fit in this world. I think an MLP show geared towards an older audience should address this instead of trying to be another high school drama.
The peril of this is Equestria is very much a clockwork universe. Ponies discover their destiny at a young age. They even have the CMC trying to answer that question. My thought was having ponies who discovered their destinies, but their destinies don't mix well with Equestrian society. Their abilities and interests aren't supported by the social norms. They're marginalized, but circumstances put them center stage. Now they must answer the question of where they fit in this world that seems to have no place for them.
Does this sound too in depth and sophisticated?
