NOTE: I'm not losing interest in My Little Pony. It's Friendship is Magic that I'm having problems with.
I just saw the teaser at SDCC and I have to admit I am not impressed. The ponies as superheroes...yawn. Nightmare Moon returning...might be entertaining but I'll have to see how they handle it. Addressing the fact Scootaloo can't fly...why did you give us this pile of scrap in the first place, Lauren. The Apple song...catchy, but where does it fit?
I'm starting to think Friendship is Magic should have followed TF Prime's lead and ended after 65 episodes to make way for something new.
My biggest problem is with the world itself. Equestria is too safe for my tastes. The ponies control everything including the sun and moon. The villains aren't all that threatening and more concepts given forms than personalities.
I really wish they would go back to what the original cartoon did (with better characterization.) A small enclave of ponies is more interesting. The world is bigger, more exotic, and less hospitable. There's a genuine sense of tension as the ponies don't have a big country to rely on. It's them versus the world with no reinforcements or fallback positions. I want the sense of escapism the high fantasy world on the original cartoon provided.

You know, I felt the same way when I saw information about Season 3 of TF:Prime, and all I could think of was "Oh gawd not Beast Wars again....grate Optimus will proberly change his name to Optimus Primal...." but I gave it a chance and it surprised me, ok still miffed at some things....like Primes vehcial change and the dragons name (to wich I refuse to use) but I was impressed. I saw the toys first before the show...that didnt help, but it has surpsied me over the weeks and I am looking forward to the movie (if what sunstar says is true) and season 4. What you saw was a sneeky peek, while your not impressed now but give it a chance before you make judgment it may surprise you
EDIT:
Here is the showing so you can take a look if you want to.

Power Ponies? *looks suspiciously at member list* Well, Twilight's ascension bares a striking resemblance to Wind Whistler's transformation into an alicorn in Arachnis the Captor. Since the writers don't read fanfiction (at least officially), we have to consider these coincidences.

who says they dont, sometimes fanfics can provided some inspuration for shows. Im sure that those two parts the power ponies and nightmare moons return are some sort of dream squences, the latter being Twlilght saw what really happend to Luna when she changed into Nightmare moon

Do you think they looked at mine? I mean 1 of my fanfic series is power ponies. They didn't look like what I expected them to be but still the name was what I gave the series.

Did you seriously just criticize Lauren Faust for creating the show to begin with? Not cool, man. Come on, you're better than that.
You know, some of the behavior on this site is really making me realize why some people don't like bronies. First, we have some users hating the show now because of one, short season that might not have been as great as it should have been, and now we have Al saying that it should never have been created. Seriously, Al, seriously?
Season 4 looks fine from I'm sitting. I, for one, have thick enough skin not to be scared off by one trailer with clips that make up a very tiny fraction of what the Season will contain. The only thing that I find questionable is the return of Nightmare Moon, but I'll actually watch the episode before saying anything about it one way or the other.

No. I'm complaining about the Scootaloo is crippled idea she had. It's stupid. The way she described how Scootaloo's "disability" works makes no sense. Her wings can't get her off the ground but can propel her on her scooter while pulling Applebloom and Sweetie Belle along at faster than walking speed? That's like saying a blind person can see infrared radiation. If her wings don't work, they don't work period. That's what I was talking about.
I'm glad the series was made. I like it. MLP desperately needed it to dig out of the hole it had been digging since MLP and Friends ended. However, I'm starting to want something else out of the brand. 65 episodes of the same characters, setting, and story is enough. I was hoping Twilight becoming a princess would mean a paradigm shift for the show. However, I see no sign of it.

Alright. Good. I'm glad we got that cleared up. I completely disagree with you about Scootaloo's disability. It makes sense that her wings can propel her forward on something with wheels. It would take a lot more power to get her off the ground, though. I believe Faust's reasoning was that her wings just weren't big enough to get her skyward, anyway, so I have no issues.
As you and I both told sunstar repeatedly: wait until Season 4 actually happens. Please, can we please not start the naysaying until we actually know for certain what's what with the new season. After we've seen an episode of the series (or least something a lot more substantial with a five minute collection of audio), criticize to your heart's content. Remember, trailers are always deceiving in some way.
In my opinion, 65 episodes isn't anywhere near enough. I have no problem with continuing to watch the show in it's present form. MLP has never been successful enough to get to this point before, and I'm looking forward to what else it has to offer. More adventur and danger would be nice, but I don't need it to enjoy myself.

This reminds me of how Sunstar and I were talking the idea of a series set in the FiM universe but on a more mature level like TF: Prime. It would delve more into the backstory of things and characters like the Elements of Harmony and Luna and Celestia. It would be a bit more darker in tone at times. Is that what you're thinking of, Al1701?

It is showing some promise. I am waiting, but I still feel this might go the way of the final season of CSI Miami, with epicness the first few episodes then peter out.
There is no fourth season for TFP. A new series will begin after the fourth movie.

Wow. I was not expecting you to be the more optimistic one, sunstar. That makes me even more hopeful.

Still want to know how they came up with the name power ponies for them in an episode for season 4. Its a neat idea for it. Oh well guess they just came out with it out of the blue like any cartoon company. Can't be coincidence that the name is the same name of my fanfics.
