So it's common knowledge on this and other pony gen forms that My Little Pony Tales aired in 1992. And what was supposed to be the WAVE. OF. THE FUTURE! in the 1990s? Virtual Reality. Yes, in the 90s VR was everywhere. From (crappy) video game consoles to an episode of Murder, She Wrote (Yes, I am serious). So if Tales had continued on past it's first season (with it's characters aging each season by a year), it's inevitable that they'd take a crack at the concept.
The question is, how? The basic idea would be that Lancer's parents (being of the 'ambiguously crazy wealth' levels of richness) have recently bought their son a new fangled state of the art* Virtual Reality game system. Lancer would invite both the Mane Seven, as well as Teddy and Ace, over to try the machine out. Much like every Holodeck episode in the history of ever, however, the machine soon goes haywire, with the pony cast getting stuck in the game.
The genre, should anyone chose to accept, will depend entirely on whatever you wish. It can be romance, a murder mystery ala Clue, an action adventure story/parody ala GI Joe or Transformers, a satire of American pop culture ala the Aninmanicas, a fantasy adventure story that crosses over with the Dream Valley G1 series (because reasons), ect, ect.
So basically, here's a story idea and anyone who wants it is free to have it.
