JANET AND JERRY. ... *tries not to laugh hysterically at the outdated names* *fails miserably* I'm sorry, I can't help it! I mean, I LIKE those names...but I have NEVER met a little girl named Janet. All the Janets I know are grown women. (As for Jerry...eh, I've met one or two, but it still isn't popular.) Anyways. Janet and Jerry. Early prototypes of Megan and Danny? Also, why is it that in every '80s-made kids franchise, the girl is blonde and the boy is brown-haired? *has always been weirded out by this* All the ponies kinda look like they're superimposed onto the watercolor illustrations. And they're all in the same poses you can find in other storybooks/comics/canon images. I guess Hasbro had a bunch of lineart that was recolored appropriately for different publications. They did the same with G3, after all. Though G3 would've been easy to do with computer programs and photoshop and stuff. I don't know what technology they would've used in the '80s. I love the barker's arm, complete with candied apple, in the pic of Blossom playing horseshoes. So random! The church steeple cracks me up for some reason. You don't get those in kids books much anymore. I mean, today, Hasbro would never mention a church in a book based on one of their franchises because it'd be completely un-PC and might drive away potential customers from other religions. I guess that wasn't a problem back then, though. "I knew you were a special pony!" What, the GREEN HAIR, MUSICAL FLANK MARKINGS, WINGS, AND ABILITY TO SPEAK WEREN'T DEAD GIVEAWAYS??? Janet dear, you aren't terribly bright, are you? At least Megan had the decency to say "Talking pony!" Unless, seeing as apparently ponies and humans coexist here, colorful talking flying ponies AREN'T special. In which case I have no idea what the "special" thing about Medley is. The ability to save small children? And then it ends with everyone laughing. Is this, like, a rule with children's franchises? Everything must end with laughter? The movies and TV shows I can understand, but even specifically mentioning it in the book...? XD Fun storybook, albeit in an inane sort of way. Like most of MLP canon!

Cute book! I had it in my collection! Sadly, it was lost during the tornado along with most of my collection then... Reading it brought back memories of being curled up next to Nana, my old minature/shetland cross, and reading the story out loud to her. Good memories.
I bet this one is from the time before the great catalysm that tore the world apart, putting Ponykind and human kind into different worlds. (My fanon, the catalysm is the collapse of the Flow)

I love the barker's arm, complete with candied apple, in the pic of Blossom playing horseshoes. So random! I know, it looks like he's trying to stick it in her hair or something! The imminent threat (of the sharp church steeple possibly puncturing the balloon) is completely ruined by the illustration, too. "Hmm, let's make it rounded with a weird ball on the top!" Duuuuuude, look at the ponies. They're like . . . all the colors of the rainbow, man. And that makes them, like, special? Because of the colors? And they talk? Yeah. Yeah man, they talk to me, like . . . all the tiiiime. I swear, half the G1 Transformers episodes ended this way. Someone would crack a terrible joke and then . . . "HA HA HA HA!" Fade to black.
