Probably more like "kicked out by Majesty." "DANGIT, HOW MANY HUMANS ARE YOU PEOPLE GOING TO DRAG OVER HERE?!?"
Applejack is the only pony with a semblance of a continuous personality throughout MLP canon, it seems. She's always thinking with her stomach!
Firefly, meanwhile, apparently doesn't like kids. Is this before or after Rescue at Midnight Castle, I wonder? And where did her sense of adventure go, anyway?
I love how there's always a token boy. I mean, why? It's not like little boys were Hasbro's target demographic here. Why not have two girls? Were they worried that the little brothers who'd be forced to listen to this as a bedtime story would feel left out?
I love the frills on the girl's swimsuit. I used to have swimsuits like that. When I was three. And it was still the early 90s. So hand-me-downs from your 80s-raised cousins were still fashionable. Also, the girl is BRUNETTE. OMG. THIS PICTURE BOOK IS BLONDE-FREE. THIS IS A FIRST.
I have to say that I do like this artwork. It isn't amazing, of course, but it's pretty easy on the eyes. There's something soft and cuddly about it. ^_^

I didn't have this book, but I've seen it before. I like the drawing style.

Hard question but I belive this was before the Midnight Castle event and abot the Firefly and the kids thing, well Megan was a big girl than these ones. In the cartoon Firefly never met with Molly and Danny. PS: At the begining of the Rescue at Midnight Castle Firefly automaticall fly away to get help from the human area but she didn't get far because she fell into Megan's well.

I find the illustrations very soothing as well, especially the beach scene where the ponies are looking at the little pool of fish.
I just noticed the kid's have three whole, raw carrots in their lunch. Did their mom want to get rid of some vegetables or did she say, "Here you are, Boy and Girl, take these in case you make friends with some talking ponies!"

PFFFFFT. XD
Or maybe the ponies brought their own food?
Though, most likely, the illustrator thought that children wouldn't be able to recognize chopped-up carrots. Or carrot sticks. Most children's book illustrations of food I've seen show whole, raw carrots... *does not really understand the illustration conventions, but whatever*
I like the crazy mother theory. ;D
And I agree about the tidepool picture. There's something very nice about it. Like, I-wouldn't-mind-hanging-that-up-on-the-wall-of-my-pony-room nice.

You've never gotten raw carrots in your lunchbox? I did all the time, whenever I felt adventurous, and a little knife to peel them too.
I also like the illustrations in this one. They remind me vaguely of Golden Books.

...Your mom must've been way cooler than mine, then, Anna. And my mom is pretty cool.
Still, she never would've given me a knife. I don't know if she was worried about me cutting myself or someone else. XD
Golden Books! I remember those! And you're right--it's quite an apt comparison.

I had a huge collection of Golden Books growing up. I still have a couple in my vast bookshelf. my mom always made sure my food was cut up into pieces so tiny that there was no danger of choking. (Was it my fault I tried to swallow a whole baby potato? In my defense, I forgot to chew.) I was infamous for choking. (What? It was eat fast or get nothing at all with my sister and several cousins around!)
I like the picture of the ponies with the tide pool the best. It reminds me of my first trip to a beach. I loved sitting with my feet in a tide pool and watching the little animals.

There's something sinister about the pony's grin on the cover.

You are right. Firefly has a sinister look in her eyes on the cover.

It reminds me of Lady Moondancer's interpretation of Munchy.
