This is a screenplay based on an idea I had when I was in grade school. The Sun has destroyed the inner Solar System, and mankind now lives on the moons of the gas giants. I never had a specific story as I had aliens come in and get their asses kicked. However, being more mature as a writer, I think I've come up with a story for this world. We follow the exploits of Zander Erickson, a newly promoted captain in the Titan Courier Service. He; his ship, the Hermes-Maru; and his crew move people and goods between the planets. However, the Kuiper Pirates have a mobile base between Saturn and Uranus and raid on the shipping lanes. Erickson and his crew find themselves confronting the pirates directly. Could these merchant marines escape with their lives and cargo and maybe even stop the pirates from breaking the Solar System in two? Hermes-Maru pages 1-10Here are the first ten pages.

It is really good. I actually had a similar idea where the sun collapses into a black hole and human kind escapes. They land in a new solar system consisting of a single sun, planet, and moon called the Solarian System. Lygoria, the planet, doesn't orbit the sun the way earth does. Instead, it is actually pulled around the sun by its moon, named Polaria. The sun is called Solaria. The first settlement was on Polaria. When that became overcrowded, most of the human race moved down into Lygoria where they thrived upon its four continets. I didn't get farther then that.
I like your idea a lot.

This is more about adventure on the high seas only in space. The fact the inner solar system is gone is just a backdrop.
This is also going to adhere as perfectly to Newtonian physics as I can. If you notice Zander was reading off acceleration instead of velocity. Ships also have have rotating sections to simulate gravity.
When I'm done, I intend to register it with the W.G.A. Something of mine I could actually register and pitch. Oh boy.
