Welcome to retro weekends. As you know the weekends are a break from FiM because the episodes aired on the weekends aren't continued from the week. So without further ado.....


"Baby Its Cold Outside" review:


Part 1:


The episode starts out with what appears to be a snow day. Now you know as I do snow day equals fun for youngsters. This is no exception with the baby ponies as seen in the beginning.

Anyway they romp and play and have a good time. Unbeknownst to them its caused by a king who turns everything cold. Okay first we get a princess who can turn things to glass now a king that makes snow fall? Just wow.

Magic Star apparently is worried. Yeah its supposed to be summer and its snowing. Really weird. Truly thinks she's a party pooper and brushes this off like there's nothing wrong.

We turn to a scene with a duck and a penguin. Their both friends. They are also wondering why its so cold. The penguin's name is Edgar and the duck's name is Sunny. They go in and ask him why its so cold. The king's name is Charleton and he wants it cold so only penguins can survive.

He freezes Sunny telling Edgar he should have friends who can survive in the cold.

Back with the others their still having fun with a snowball fight. They then realize its getting colder. Its even so cold that the sea pony pond is freezing over and the rainbow to Megan as well. They decide to go get Megan.

They sing "We're not gonna freeze" as they try to stay warm. Surprise makes it to Megan but her wings are so cold she can't fly anymore. Also Megan is also concerned since the rainbow froze over. Surprise gives her the details. Megan goes to get gloves to put over Surprise's wings to warm them up and they set off for Ponyland.

Back in Ponyland its getting colder by the minute. They see Surprise and Megan and Magic Star says for them to go north and they all agree. Of course it leads them nowhere near where the cold weather is coming from. They then see the sea ponies which want them to follow.

They find what they are looking for thanks to them. They say they'll have to continue on without them. They come to a maze and figure out a plan. Flying won't work so they have to walk through it. They run into a guardian which is an abominable snowman to end part 1.


Part 2:


Part 2 opens up with them facing the abominable snowman. He chases them. Magic star gets on top of the snowball he's holding and stomps on it to break it apart and covers him in snow. This allows them to get past but are captured by Charleton's men.

We then shift to a scene with Edgar who brings a coat to Sunny. Yeah he's frozen. A coat isn't gonna help there buddy. The guards bring Megan and the others in as this is happening. Magic Star thinks she might be able to melt the bars with her horn. It works but Edgar comes in and warns them not to make too much noise or the guard will hear and this will mean trouble for them.

Edgar agrees to help them escape if they'll help his friend. Edgar tells them to pretend they are his prisoners. The guards buy it. He takes them to see Charleton and Megan isn't happy with what he's doing. Edgar also warns of booby traps that are around. Surprise sets one off which makes icicles fall.

A giant snowball? When did this become a bad parody of Indiana Jones? They escape it and head for Charleton's chamber.

Charleton isn't happy with his son since he helped them escape. Edgar tries to convince him to stop but he tries to freeze the ponies and Megan and Edgar gets in the way and is frozen instead. The guards are as surprised as they are and Charleton says that Edgar shouldn't have interfered and orders the guards to take him and the rest back to prison.

Megan and the others sing "How could you be so cold" which asks why he has to be like he is. It fits well and is well song. Good song. In fact its so good I used this song more than once in my fan stories. During the song we see Charleton with Edgar as he is growing up.

As the song ends Charleton sees the error of his ways and they ask him if he can reverse it and he says he can't its permanent. But when a teardrop falls on Edgar it thaws him. This is a heartwarming scene and a bit funny because Charleton is still fretting over him freezing his son he doesn't realize he thawed Edgar. They tell him it was his love that broke the spell.

They then thaw all of Ponyland and even Sunny.

Charleton promises to be a better king as they leave to end the episode.


Good Points:


-Seeing the ponies having fun in the snow was cute.
-Both songs were plot worthy and very well sung.
-Charleton not being evil just making a bad decision was awesome.



You know I didn't find any flaws with this episode. They got straight to the point (Even though there was that one point) and it was a good episode. 10/10. Next weekend is "Crunch the Rockdog" and "The Revolt of Paradise Estate" reviews. Sorry for not reviewing anything yesterday. Was gone all day and the world series was on. Before I start this review let me just say I love Windwhistler. Especially in this episode. So here we go.



"Crunch the Rockdog" review:


Part 1:


Part 1 opens up with 2 ponies running from a dust cloud. One decides to stay behind while the other runs off. Paradise says the name of the one who stays is Valentine to end the story.

The scene shifts to them in the nursery with them tucking the baby ponies into bed. Yeah read the baby ponies a tear jerker before bed. Real smart. Windwhistler doesn't see any idea behind the story. They tell her she doesn't have feelings. Poor Windwhistler .

Windwhistler says she does and Megan and Danny says "Yeah by hurting them". What jerks.

We then cut to a scene with the bushwoolies running from a badass villain named Crunch. He sings the song "I hate soft" while turning things to stone. Catchy and very well sung be the actor.

Back with Windwhistler she says she has feelings but has a different way of showing them. Danny and Megan come up and say they didn't mean it. Yeah. Like they really said that.

One of the bushwoolies escapes Crunch and comes up to them warning them of Crunch. They all go to kick his butt. Windwhistler tells them to calm down. WOULD YOU STOP PICKING ON POOR WINDWHISTLER ALREADY?! JEEZ!

They decide to go ask the Moochick and.... HOLY ALICORNS BATMAN! Okay who hit the error switch?

The Moochick and Habbit has their own problems. A walking stick that has come to life. They think its been overworked and they tell him to give it a break. They ask the Moochick about Crunch and he tells them to talk to his elevated eminence in the purple mountains.

They head there only to be tracked down by Crunch. Danny decides to teach him some manners by treating him like a bad dog. This just makes him laugh. Windwhistler tells them to make a break for it and Gusty tries to stop them and is turned to stone to end part 1.


Part 2:


Part 2 opens up with Crunch and his henchmen laughing at the now stone Gusty. They decide to make a break for it to the purple mountains. Before this they distract the henchmen. Buttons rolls them on top of Crunch and she says it doesn't take much to outsmart a rock when they ask where she is.

There's no sign of His elevated eminence but a voice is heard telling they are standing on him. He tells them why Crunch is so mean. The only thing to stop him is the heartstone but isn't sure what'll happen if they take it. When they get there Megan isn't sure if she should take it but he and Windwhistler insists. The minute they take it he turns into quite the grouch.

Crunch meets them outside and Truly goes after him and Windwhistler tells him she doesn't care what happens to Truly. Crunch turns Truly to stone and Windwhistler sheds a tear and Crunch sees this and thinks she does care. She then offers Megan to him which is a trap since she has the heartstone. Megan uses the heartstone to shrink him down and he turns into a puppy and they take a piece of the heartstone and he returns to his regular size and is smiling. I also want to point out that since Crunch has no power as a puppy the ponies and bushwoolies are turned back to normal.

They sing "Its wonderful to have a heart" which is a good song but I really wanted to hear more from Windwhistler.

His elevated eminence thanks them. The others apologize and Windwhistler decides to troll them. Good one Windwhistler since they picked on you. This ends the episode.


Good points:


-Windwhistler that is all I have to say .
-Crunch was an awesome villain.


Bad point:


-The ponies were bullies.


Not a bad episode. Good episode especially since we see Windwhistler who she really was. 9.5/10. Next up is "The revolt of Paradise Estate" review.

Well this is one of my favorite 2 part episode. This and "The Golden Horseshoes". For one I always loved Baby Cuddles and Mimic. So without further ado:


The Revolt of Paradise Estate:


Part 1:


Part 1 opens up with Paradise reading a story about a giant and a grundle. While doing this she stomps her foot which brings down pieces of Paradise Estate's ceiling.

Cherries Jubilee comes in saying Paradise Estate needs work. Okay I have to ask "Why the hell didn't they fix it up in The Ghost of Paradise Estate"? Paradise says not everything but a piece of the roof says otherwise as it smacks her on the head. This gets Sweet Stuff giggling and Baby Cuddles says the cutest thing ever. "Oh my." Let me just say that apart from Baby Shady, Baby Cuddles was and always will be my favorite baby pony from G1.

Anyway Sweet Stuff tells Cuddles to go take her nap while her and Paradise gets to work. Now I don't know if Sweet Stuff is like her aunt or something but in my fan episodes she is kinda her adopted mom and Cuddles does have a daughter in "The Magic of Ponyland".

As they work on the estate things start falling apart like the walls that Paradise tries to keep from crumbling by putting nails in. Yeah telling it "Don't you dare" will work Paradise *Sighs*. If I didn't like Paradise so much I'd add something bad about her here. Sweet Stuff thinks its her fault but Paradise says its not her fault just the Estate is falling apart. WELL DUH! Sweet Stuff said they promised they'd fix it up. Who did they promise that to? Mr. Moochick?

More stuff happens and Paradise gets mad and says this never happens in fairytales. Yeah but your magical ponies and you have unicorns. Use your powers to fix them jeez. She then fixes the roof (Or so she thinks). "There solid as a rock.... slide" . This is why I love this episode. Anyway Paradise has had and tells Sweet Stuff its time they got better tools.

Okay.... Why didn't they think of this before? If Windwhistler were here she'd tell them that the tools they have just won't do. Windwhistler where are you?

Anyway they see a salesman who is selling magic paint and tells them the paint is all they need. Paradise tells Sweet Stuff the old saying "Never look a gift horse in the mouth." Yeah. A guy in a cloak selling magic paint sounds sketchy to me.

They then return with the said "Magic paint" and they tell her she needs to stop believing such stories. They try it out and find it is magic.

They sing "Fresh coat of paint" while working on Paradise Estate by painting the furniture and everything.... and I mean everything. The walls, ceiling even their tools. This is an okay song but come on give us some good singers. We have a few but what happened to the voice actor for Windwhistler or hell what happened to the ones who sang "Let the bell of freedom ring"? Some sound like they've been smoking during the song. I do gotta admit though we do get some hilarious scenes during the actual song like a chair painting Cherries Jubilee's face and one fainting at the sight of the furniture coming to life.

They all start gaping at the furniture and they tell them in a way to stop staring and say something. The furniture explains that they fixed themselves. For awhile this doesn't seem so bad. Their even helpful. Even Baby Cuddles' buggy who sings her to sleep.

But then the furniture start to retaliate against them being pushy. The ponies retreat only to have their furniture kick them out. We even see a hilarious scene with the ponies being spanked by the pendulum of a clock. Only furniture not going crazy is the buggy. They grab Cuddles and are kicked out to end part 1.


Part 2:


Part 2 opens up them standing outside trying to come up with a plan. Wow I haven't heard Sweet Stuff be that assertive or angry since the movie. Cherries Jubilee says that if they try to retaliate they'd just get kicked out again. She suggests seeing that salesman. Baby Cuddles fights to get free to get her buggy. Paradise advises her to stay with them while..... WTF?! IF THEY WANTED HER TO STAY WITH THEM THEN WHY DID PARADISE JUST PUT HER DOWN! WHY NOT JUST GIVE HER A PAIR OF SCISSORS WHILE YOUR AT IT PARADISE?! JEEZ!

She goes back to Paradise Estate while the others go and find the merchant. No luck though. He's gone.

Back with Baby Cuddles. She found her buggy. Boy I guess when your favorite pony is a baby you have a soft spot. Well she is her favorite thing ever so I guess that's why she didn't go crazy because she loves Cuddles so much. The furniture chase them. They make it to the basement.... OKAY WHY DIDN'T WE SEE THIS BEFORE!

As they peer through the only window in the basement we see that same merchant but its not a merchant. This is our antagonist of this episode Bezim. He gets in by force.

Back with the others they decide to talk to the Moochick.

Back with Bezim who has taken over Paradise Estate.

Back with the others Mr. Moochick never knew about any magic paint...... OKAY SO YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE A KNOW IT ALL WIZARD AND MAGIC PAINT IS NEW TO YOU?! JEEZ HE REALLY IS ABSENT MINDED! He then takes a look at the situation and.... SO YOU KNOW OF BEZIM AND NOT OF HIS MAGIC PAINT?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?! They see that they are scared and decide to go help their furniture.

Back at Paradise Estate the furniture think that maybe kicking the ponies out wasn't a good idea because Bezim isn't as nice as they are.

They sing "Remember the ponies" while they remember what it was like before they kicked the ponies out...... Wait. They weren't alive before this so how do they remember this? Ugh never mind. I need to stop being like Windwhistler and trying to figure this out. Its a good song but again some of the singers sound like they were smoking while singing this..

Bezim orders them to go back to work. The ponies have arrived and Bezim orders the same furniture that he ordered to work to keep the ponies out. OKAY! CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME HOW THAT'S GONNA WORK?! HE ORDERED THEM TO GET BACK TO WORK ON CLEANING AND IS NOW ORDERING THEM TO KEEP THE PONIES OUT..... You know what nevermind.

The ponies get ready to charge when they reach Paradise Estate and just when they are about to Cuddles' buggy knocks.... *Snickers* Bezim on his butt and Cuddles reasons with the furniture to let the ponies in. Boy for a baby Cuddles can sure stand her own ground.

They fight Bezim together but he turns the furniture back to normal. They finally catch him and pour paint on his own wand which turns it on him. Ha ha ha. Revenge is a dish best served cold Bezim .

They complain that the place is in worse shape than before and Paradise agrees but its better than having a house full of crazed furniture. I agree. They say that the house is back to normal which Cuddles doesn't like this idea since her favorite baby buggy is now just a regular baby buggy..... (Or is it). We then hear the buggy humming her to sleep to end the episode.


Good Points:


-Seeing everything fall apart on Paradise was hilarious.
-Baby Cuddles. Need I say more?
-Out of all the furniture that went crazy Baby Cuddles' buggy didn't.
-"Fresh Coat of Paint" and "Remember the ponies" were good songs but jeez did they have some bad singers in them.


Bad Points:


-Some of the singing. It wasn't off key or anything it just sounded like most of the singers were smoking during both songs.


Above all its not a bad episode. I really love Baby Cuddles and her baby buggy and their interaction. 9.5/10. Next up is "Through the door" review. And no I will not do the 2 part "Rescue from Midnight Castle" I've already done that as the special. So tomorrow will mark the end of season one's reviews which means next weekend I will start season 2.

This episode marks the end of season 1 in my opinion because "Rescue from Midnight Castle" is the first special of the series turned into a 2 parter. But I have to say that I've seen better 2 parters. Don't get me wrong "Through the door" is a good episode but I for one can't believe the reaction on Megan and the ponies faces when the storybook characters come to life. Ponyland is full of magic and they can't ponder how the characters come there? Seriously? Also who cares if the dragon is evil? But we'll get to that point here in a minute. So without further ado:


Through the door:


Part 1:


Part 1 opens up with Northstar, Lofty and Paradise searching the outlands. They come across a door and Northstar wants to open it and see what's inside. Paradise seems to have learned her lesson from her past times of screwing things up and decides against it. Yeah. They finally made her smarter. There's a story behind the door saying that a sorcerer trapped a monster inside it calling it "The door of legends" and he puts a sign on it warning anyone who wants to open it.

Northstar thinks this is a bunch of ponyfeathers (Nonsense) and decides to open the door saying Paradise didn't say not to open it. That's like the serpent from the bible telling Eve that God said "Not to eat of any of the trees". This of course is a bad idea. Its like Pandora's box. YOU SHOULD NEVER OPEN IT!

After seeing there's nothing inside Northstar shuts it. The door swings open and an arrow shoots out. It came from Robin Hood and his merry men. This is our first legend. This doesn't seem so bad. They want money but unfortunately them being ponies they don't which makes Robin Hood's merry men not so merry. Now he calls out for the rest like Paul Bunyon, Aladdin and Shaharazad. Then Hercules comes out in a panic saying that something is coming. They close the door and scatter and Lofty thinks that this might be the monster that Paradise mentioned their talking about.

We then cut to a scene with Paradise and Heartthrob picking flowers. Heartthrob wants to find her true love which breaks into this episode's first song.

"There's a prince in your future" is very well sung by Paradise and Heartthrob and shows us her love interest. But guess who she wants to fall in love with? A HUMAN! Yeah not another pony a human. HOW ARE YOU GONNA LOVE A HUMAN?!

And who to show up to court her but Prince Charming. Sure let's just have some random prince come out of nowhere to court a pony who he doesn't know and might I add again..... SHE'S A PONY! Also he starts charming everypony in sight. Paradise feels something isn't right. Yeah a prince coming out of air is pretty random.

At Paradise Estate Hercules is cleaning and Shaharazad is teaching the baby ponies to belly dance. Wow. They walk on four legs and your trying to teach them to dance. *Sighs*

Meanwhile Lickety-Split, Paradise and Buttons are having a picnic and Lickety-Split is worried about the clouds overhead. WHY DON'T YOU ASK YOUR DAUGHTER TO WISH...... No wait that ended in ruin last time nevermind. Buttons starts cleaning the lamp that Aladdin lent her and a genie pops out. Being a genie he has to grant them 3 wishes. Lickety-Split asks for a perfect day but the genie needs more details. AND YET HER DAUGHTER CAUSED A DROUGHT BY BEING SPECIFIC IN HER WISH!

Back with the others Robin Hood shows off his archery skills. They mention the monster which makes Robin Hood's men jump. Speaking of that Heartthrob goes looking for Prince Charming and she has left the door open to let the monster out which ends part 1.


Part 2:


Part 2 opens up with the monster coming out and turning to a scene with Northstar trying to learn archery which doesn't work so well since she's using her mouth. Robin tries to show her but misses the shot which makes him angry. Hercules is also done with cleaning the inside and decides to work under Paradise Estate. How? By lifting Paradise Estate. This makes sense he is the strongest hero of them all.

But as he does this his strength goes away and he drops Paradise Estate.

We cut to Prince Charming who is now trying to charm the sea ponies. REALLY HASBRO!? HAVE A PRINCE PROPOSE TO PONIES WHO CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT BEING IN WATER! AND MIGHT I ADD AGAIN THEIR FUCKING PONIES! BABY SEAPONIES AT THAT! He then sees that his beautiful face is becoming less beautiful by the minute. Shaharazad isn't having trouble since she has no traits..... except the fact that the now escaped monster is after them.

The genie is still trying to handle their requests and Lickety-Split asks for ice cream. ITS A STINKING SCOOP OF ICE CREAM! WHAT'S SO HARD ABOUT THAT!? Windwhistler finally tells him what she asked for and he grants it.... or so we think. It almost crushes everyone but not before disappearing.

I might want to add that since they all are out of the door of legends that their powers are fading. Heartthrob leaves the land of legends and sees the castle crumbling.

Things aren't going so well with Megan either as her books are starting to lose their characters. Paradise comes and informs Megan of their troubles which Megan ties it in with all the blank pages in her books. She heads to Ponyland to meet them. The monster also comes up to them.

Let me get this out of the way from Doug Walker aka Nostalgia Critic since this is bad acting at its worse for the so called monster..... "I am acting" Yeah I said that.

While the others head for cover the baby ponies stand their ground against this monster. The monster apologizes and Megan says the reason why he's being a monster is because that's what he is and the others are doing what they do is because that's what they do best. Heartthrob wants them to return so that the land of legends can be turned back to normal but the heroes of legends say that the monster has to stay since well he's a monster.

This gets into our second song of the episode "I was born to be a monster" which is sang good by the dragon but not by the heroes of legend. They all apologize to him and decide he can go back with them.

They return to the door of legends and say their goodbyes and close the door. They head back to clean the Estate from the ordeal. Northstar is still depressed but they find that the books are back to normal and see that what Robin Hood says was true to end the episode.


Good Points:


-Heartthrob's love interest while wrong was very like her.
-Both songs were great.
-Seeing that what Robin Hood said was true.


Bad Points:


-Heartthrob's love interest is humans. Need I say more.
-The singing in "I was born to be a monster" was sang good by the dragon but not by the heroes of legend.
-PRINCE CHARMING WAS DUMB! HE PROPOSED HIS LOVE TO PONIES! AND NOT JUST EARTH PONIES NO!!!! SEAPONIES!


If it weren't for the many flaws in this episode I wouldn't rant so much. But jeez. 7.5/10. Next up is the episode that starts up season 2 "The quest of the princess ponies" review.

Season 2:


Before we start the review I want to say that although they were royal pain in the butts I loved the princess ponies. In fact they kinda helped me with my idea of magical princess ponies. Anyway here is:


"The Quest of the Princess Ponies" review:



Part 1:


Part 1 opens up with our said princesses. Their names are Princess Primrose, Princess Serena, Princess Sparkle, Princess Starburst, Princess Tiffany and Princess Royal Blue. Jeez what a drama queen. Their arguing over who should be queen.

We then turn to Spike and the bushwoolies who are lost trying to find Dream Valley. They see a light and head toward it and arrive at the Royal Paradise. They meet princess Royal Bloom and the rest. They want them to judge a contest on who's gonna be queen. They start arguing again.

Okay so this song is yet another messed up song and guess who its sang by? Ponies. "By right I should be queen" is the name and some of the princesses sing good but ugh. Can't we have at least a whole group of singers. We do get a hilarious scenes though. They show off their powers like creating rainbows, turning Red Robins into blue jays, growing flowers even making 1 Jay into 2 Jays. Even making hail and snow. And making the north winds blow.

Of course their so good that Spike and the bushwoolies can't decide who deserves to be queen.

We then turn our attention to this episode's villain Lavan. He gives me the creeps. Anyway the reason he's watching them is to get their magic wands. Why you ask? To become a being of unimaginable power. He orders a lava demon named Sledge to get ready for an attack.

Back with the princess ponies they are still arguing but during their arguing they actually notice that Lavan has come. They fight valiantly but eventually get their wands stolen. Spike tries to stop him but Lavan uses his lava powers to cause fog to cover them so he can get away. They say that if Lavan tries to use the wands it might upset the balance of Ponyland and we all know that can't be a good thing.

We then cut to Lavan who is trying to unlock the wands powers which we already know this is gonna cause trouble. This doesn't work and we see that the power is too much for him.

Well if you'd just stop arguing maybe we'd get somewhere. Anyway the ponies in Ponyland feel the tremors and Galaxy feels like this is a bad thing. We also see Fizzy's powers going wonky which isn't her fault. Everything is going to ruin.

Megan asks Paradise to go see what's going on. Lavan must have the ponies in order to unlock the wands powers. Spike tells Tiffany its up to her to go get help. We then hear Lavan yelling. Spike also has Tiffany take a bushwoolie with her since he knows the way to Dream Valley. THESE ARE THE SAME BUSHWOOLIES THAT GOT YOU LOST IN THE FIRST PLACE AND YOUR TRUSTING ONE BUSHWOOLIE TO HELP HER GET TO DREAM VALLEY!? That's it their doomed. Lavan tells them they are all his prisoners to end part 1.


Part 2:


Part 2 opens up with Royal Blue and the bushwoolie on their way to Dream Valley but the bushwoolie falls off.

Meanwhile Lavan orders the princess ponies to tell him how to get the power he desires. They refuse so he has his lava demons take them to the lava pits.

Meanwhile Paradise bumps into Princess Tiffany who fills her in on what's happening. Paradise tells her she needs to tell this to Megan.

Meanwhile the princess ponies are taken to the lava pits. Spike creates a diversion for them all to escape using the bushwoolies. Spike tells them they have to help the princess ponies and of course being bushwoolies they agree. Before they do some creatures looking like ice sculptures comes up and Spike thinks they might need rescuing.

The princess ponies are seen near the lava pits and are being threatened. But before they can push them in there's another earthquake. This gives the princess ponies a chance to escape.

Back with Spike he breaths fire on his said attackers which now they think he's a lava demon. They trap him and he tells them he's dragon not a demon. They give Spike a test which involves touching their hands. When Spike does the creatures tells him he can't be one because lava demons can't stand their touch. Spike tells them he needs their help. By the way the creatures names are the "Ice Orgs". They agree since Lavan is their number one enemy.

Back with Megan and the ponies Paradise brings Princess Tiffany to Paradise Estate where she explains everything.

Back with the princess ponies they are going through mud. They sing "Keep on slogging" which I guess the singers worked on their singing skills because this song is sang pretty good.

They keep looking and find Spike and the bushwoolies. Ganash tells them that there is a secret tunnel.

Back with Megan and the others Megan goes with Princess Tiffany back to the Royal Palace with the rainbow of light because.... Well it can restore the balance.

Back wit Lavan he's still trying to unlock the power of the wands and decides that maybe his own power can do this. He touches a wand to his body and it becomes crystalised. Sledge comes in and sees this and Lavan tells him that he told him never to disturb him. Sledge tells Lavan that the princess ponies have escaped and he gets mad and throws a rainbow bolt at him.

Back with the princess ponies they are heading through the tunnel Ganash told them about. Ganash warns them to be quiet since their near Lavan's chambers. Lavan continues to use the power of the magic wands. As the princess ponies walk a bushwoolie sneezes. Great. Second time someone sneezing has gotten them in trouble. Lavan hears this and uses his new powers to create a hole in the wall. Behind it... the princess ponies. He orders his guards to capture them. Ganash and a few lava demons go at it. Lavan has captured them again. He orders his guards to throw them into the dungeon.

Megan is riding Princess Tiffany and along the way another earthquake happens and she drops the rainbow of light to end part 2.


Part 3:


Part 3 opens up as they are wondering if there's another way out but the Ice Orgs say there isn't. Sledge then comes in and they attack him but he says he doesn't want to work for Lavan anymore and will help anyway he can. Ganash points out that Ice Orgs and Lava demons always have been enemies but believes they can possibly be friends. Spike apologizes to Sledge and he shakes Sledge's hand and realize its warm. Duh he is a lava demon. Sledge says this is why they can never shake and be friends so Spike shakes both of their hands for them. They thank Spike.

Meanwhile Megan and Princess Tiffany have been flying for a long time and Megan has one other idea. The Moochick. Why do you have to see him? Jeez.

At the Moochick's his magic has gone awry too. The imbalance has caused a lot of stuff to go haywire even a chair he uses magic on. Megan explains what happened so far.

Back with Lavan he has used all the magic wands to turn him into a crystal being. A lava demon asks him what happened and he says "Power happened"

He sings "Here's to power" not a bad song by a villain I might add. The princesses are still wondering who should be queen. ISN'T THIS HOW THIS GOT STARTED!? STOP BICKERING!

Back with Megan at the Moochick's he understands about Lavan. A chair comes to life and they have to escape it. It starts eating everything and the Moochick tries to stop it but can't. Habbit takes Megan to the window to look in the book of lost answers. A plant blocks their way. Habbit suggests going around. They see it and the Moochick uses his powers to cause an avalanche. He reads to get the balance back in order. They must find the heart of Ponyland and it also says their hearts will know the way. They leave.

Ganash leads them to Lavan's throne room. When they enter they see that their wands have been sapped. Lavan tells them he now has their powers. He starts attacking them to end part 3.


Part 4:


Part 4 opens up as they are attacked by Lavan. Megan and Tiffany arrive to help them. They escape.

Windwhistler and Locket go to see that the jewel desert has started to grow and their afraid it will overtake Paradise Estate if its not stopped.

Back with the princess ponies Megan tells them that the Moochick told her they have to find the heart of Ponyland. They recall a legend about that. According to the legend its the source from where their wands draw their power. They think if they can bring their wands there they can recharge them.

Back with Lavan a lava demon tells him that they can't find them. Lavan decides to take matters into his own hands and go after them himself.

Back with the princess ponies they all start to complain but apologize.

This next song I love. It shows they have learned their lesson. "Long hard road" which is sang beautifully by the princess ponies with backups by Megan, the Ice Orgs, Sledge and the bushwoolies.

They arrive at the Heart of Ponyland but so has Lavan. He tries and stop them. Uh Spike I don't think he'll give up.

Back with Windwhistler and Locket the jewel desert is getting closer and Windwhistler gets trapped under a tree that has been turned to jewel. She tells Whizzer to get the others but she thinks there's not enough time.

Back with Megan and the princess ponies they come up with a plan. The plan is Sledge uses his lava powers to trip Lavan while the bushwoolies take the wands to the princesses. They place the wands in the heart which recharges them and they unleash a rainbow and Lavan is gone. They then use them again to restore the balance. Everything is back to normal. Holy errors Batman. Windwhistler's and Locket's voices are switched. Why Hasbro, why?

True Mr. Moochick magic can't fix everything. They thank the bushwoolies and give them each a crown but keep one in memory of the bushwoolie that was lost in the jewel desert. They all leave the Heart of Ponyland. Sledge and Ganash tell them to come back to see the new kingdom of the lava demons and Ice Orgs.

They have a celebration. They still haven't decided who should be queen but they have an idea. They should take turns. They all agree. Maybe you should have thought of that beforehand. Spike feels bad about losing a bushwoolie and Megan even feels bad about losing the rainbow of light.... wait.... What is that coming up the hill? Its the bushwoolie and he has the rainbow of light in his hand. He says he's bushed and asks what's for lunch and they all laugh to end the episode.


Good Points:


-"Long hard road", "Here's to power" and "Keep on slogging" were good songs. The other was too but its not sung well.
-Lavan was a real villain. He was menacing.


Bad Points:


-The princesses constant bickering got them into all sorts of trouble.
-"By right I should be queen" was an okay song but I think that the actors were out of tune on it.


Above all its not a bad episode. 9.5/10. Tomorrow is the "Spike's Search" review one of my favorite episodes of season 2 .

Before I begin let me just say this episode is awesome and is one of the last standalone episodes. Also next week sometime I'll have my dvds of "My little pony (Series)" in so that means I won't have to look on youtube or online for these episodes anymore. Now that we got that out of the way here's:


"Spike's Search" review:


The episode opens up as they are playing volleyball and Tiddly Winks sends it out of bounds and Spike goes to get it. When he returns they continue playing till Spike sneezes and sends a huge flame out.

By the way he has breathed fire before but not as big as this. We know that from part 3 of "The Magic coins".

This scares the ponies and Baby Lofty who now has no wings. More errors. Megan assures him this is a part of him growing up and tells him he has to find a way to keep it under control. Of course this is a problem since he can't stop sneezing.

Okay so let's compare Spike from this season and Spike from Friendship is Magic. They both are dragons, (Although in Equestria Girls he's apparently a dog) they both can breath fire, Spike from "Friends" is a little more like a dragon but they changed that in Friendship is Magic. Spike from this season can't control his fire while Spike from "Friendship is Magic" can unless you scare him and give him the hiccups.

Anyway back to Spike who is still having trouble as he walks away. Danny feeling sorry for Spike goes to talk to him and says no one got hurt. Yeah he just scared the bejeebles out of them. Spike decides to go find other dragons and Danny decides to tag along.

They head to a mountain and meet an eaglet named Weston. He apparently got separated from his family. Spike tells him he knows how Weston feels.

They sing "Someone to look up to" and might I add they sing pretty good for an eaglet and a dragon. Weston joins them on Spike's search so they can find Weston's family as well.

As night falls they come across a dragon camp. These guys are jerks but not as big of jerks as the dragons that Spike finds in Friendship is Magic. I can understand that they are teenagers but jeez. These are of course adult dragons.

They don't look friendly but Spike decides to go and talk to them. Yeah good luck with that. Danny and Weston asks him if they should come with him but he tells them that he'll be fine. As he enters two of the dragons pick on him but the lead dragon lets him join them if he can prove himself on an errand they need to run. They tell Spike that they protect the local village if they give them food but they have yet to give them any. They are going there to talk to them.... Err I mean burn it to cinders. They take all the food and head back. Danny and Weston sees this and they say they need to go get Megan and the others.

Danny informs them and Locket decides to fly over there to see what's up.

Back at the camp the lead dragon asks what he thinks about their way of life and Spike says stuff about Dream Valley and the Ponyland ponies. When they hear about food they decide to pay them a visit.

Locket sees this and reports back to the others and Danny says they should roll out the red carpet. The dragons come to Dream Valley and sees a banner welcoming them. The leader tells Megan and the others to keep the food coming or else. Spike gets mad and says that he shouldn't treat his friends so badly.

The ponies have set up a trap and douse the dragons with water. They tell them to leave and Spike gives them an earful as they do.

After this Weston says he wishes he could find his parents and they come. The episode ends with a pep talk by Danny saying that there might be other dragons just like there are different types of ponies. He also shows off a trick that he learned. Roasting marshmallows with his fire breath to end the episode.


Good Points:


-This is the best episode with Spike in it.
-The dragons although they were mean were cool.
-"Someone to look up to" is an awesome song.


This episode is watchable and very well written. 10/10. That's it for this weekend's episodes. Next weekend is the "Golden Horseshoes" review. Which hopefully by then my DVDs will be in.

Sadly I'm almost done with "Friends" episodes. Good news is I'm at one of my favorite 2 parter of season 2. So here we go with:


"The Golden Horseshoes" review:


Part 1:


Part 1 opens up with Sweet Stuff and Spike looking for Mimic. Mimic is a yellow unicorn. As they walk up to her she is transparent. As we all know transparent can't be good.

This scares Sweet Stuff and Surprise says that Megan can figure out why she's sick. Megan asks how Mimic is. They tell her what's been happening. 3 days? WHY THE HELL DIDN'T YOU GET HER SOONER! *Sighs* Your lucky I like this episode ponies. But seriously if I had a friend who was transparent or feeling well I'd get some help right away.

She goes in and sees her and checks her over for the tattletale signs of being sick. Yeah duh. We already knew that Megan. She's pale. Sheesh. They suggest it might be magic and who else might know about magic but the Moochick. Again why do we need a dumbheaded elf in the series? The rest agree to go with Megan.

They arrive at the Mushromp and hear howling. Mr. Moochick is busy making a potion. The wolfbox was the cause of the howling which was meant to scare them away. A lot of good that did. Megan tells the Moochick about Mimic's strange illness. He has read about this somewhere and guess what? He actually knows what book it is right as Habbit gives it to him. He tells of a unicorn who once had magic golden horseshoes. The reason for Mimic's illness and why this story is so important? She is a direct descendant of that unicorn. They have been blown further and further apart over the years and that's why Mimic is so ill.

Each had its own power. One told the future, one had the power of blazing light, one made someone's thoughts clear and loud, and the last made people float like a cloud. Mr. Moochick advises them to go to Screerah where the first horseshoe can be found. He also gives them the wolfbox. While they do that he goes to keep an eye on Mimic but almost forgets till the last minute.

They all sing "All through the night" which is a good song and sang great by our heroes.


Horseshoe of future telling:

They arrive in Screerah and Megan asks where the Scree are. The Scree use the horseshoe of visions. Windwhistler challenges Fleetfoot to a foot race which means she has to have her wings tied down. She loses and the Scree knew this. What cheaters. Megan uses the wolfbox to scare the Scree while she takes the horseshoe. She then asks the horseshoe where the next one is. Its in Blarkland.


Horseshoe of Blinding light:


The king of Blarkland tells them if they can tell him a riddle he doesn't know they can have it. Megan tries the "Why'd the boy throw a clock out the window" well since everyone knows that the king does too. Paradise tells the one of "What walks on four legs in the morning, two at midday, and three at sunset?" now this we know but guess what the king doesn't. Paradise tells him its humans like Megan. Heh I guess the inhabitants of Blarkland don't know everything. He keeps his end of the bargain and has one of his followers show where the horseshoe is. He's standing on it and as Spike grabs it a pile of stuff falls but the others save him.

As thanks for saving his follower the king has his men dig a tunnel to the goblin caves where the next horseshoe is. Apparently they stole it from him.


Horseshoe of mind reading:


As they enter the horseshoe around Paradise's neck is glowing brighter which means they are close. As they come to an opening three goblins see them. They get ready to grab them to end part 1.


Part 2:


Part 2 opens up as the goblins capture our heroes all except Windwhistler and Paradise who hide thanks to Windwhistler's quick thinking. The goblins know where they are. But how? They take them to their mom. Windwhistler figures that maybe one cancels out the others. Her and Paradise follow them.

Meanwhile we cut to a scene with two goblins arm wrestling with the lady goblin winning. By the way the three goblins that we saw before are brothers and since they can read each other's minds they bicker a lot. The three goblins from before show the two goblins their catch and they start bickering which makes the one goblin which is their mom cry. I guess that makes the other goblin their dad. She asks them why they can't get along and they even argue about being sorry. What brats.

The mother goblin sings "We're friendly with the beasts" which is sang great for her being a goblin. She scolds them for bickering during the song. Poor goblin mom . I feel sorry for her.

Megan suggests taking the horseshoe away that's causing this but the goblin mom disagrees but says no more arguing. Spike wonders how Mimic is and Lofty says she doesn't see how they can help her now.

Speaking of Mimic we cut to a scene with the Moochick trying to make her better. He says he could try and make new horseshoes but doesn't know if he can quick enough. Whizzer steps up and says she can help.

Back with Megan and the others. Windwhistler and Paradise are seen and they throw a rock at a goblin which makes them fight again allowing the others to escape and take the horseshoe. This of course to the mother goblin's surprise makes the boys stop fighting. She tells them the horseshoe doesn't matter now that their family is back to normal.

Back with the Moochick as he tries to recreate the horseshoes but it backfires since the power is too great even for him. Well our last hope is Megan now.


Horseshoe of weightlessness (Sorry couldn't figure another name that fit it):


Back with Megan and the others they arrive at a cliff which I guess is where the horseshoe of telling the future sent them. Lofty says that up there is the "Home of the Green Mountain Elves". Lofty says the air is thin but breathable which apparently is too much for Paradise so she gets help from Windwhistler and Northstar.

They arrive but the place doesn't look welcoming. Lofty says its supposed to be deceiving. I guess to keep evildoers out. A queen named Kara comes out and welcomes Lofty and her friends. Megan asks about a horseshoe and the queen says its belongs to a princess named Maive and according to their law they can't take it away unless she willfully gives it. Makes sense. Megan asks is she can ask for it. The queen agrees and leads them to see Maive.

They ask Maive but she refuses since it makes fun for her and shows its power off by taking them to the top of a mountain. Before she takes them to another spot Megan says maybe Maive could go see why they need it and Maive takes them to Dream Valley.

Back at Dream Valley Mimic is even sicker. Maive sees this and starts to cry and she gives them the horseshoe. The Moochick puts them on her and she's restored. Yay. Mimic muzzles Maive as thanks to end the episode.


Good Points:


-How they solved each problem.
-Maive being willing to give it to them after seeing Mimic sick.
-Both songs were great and plot worthy.


Bad Point:


-Okay if I had a sick friend almost on the verge of death I'd go get help that day. Why do you think I changed the part when they gave her the horseshoes in part 2? To show that if they would've been anymore later she'd be dead. Three days to figure that Mimic wasn't going to get any better? Seriously?


Not a bad episode but seriously. You get my point. 9.5/10. Its watchable. Next up is the "Flight to Cloud Castle" review.

Flight to Cloud Castle was one of the episodes I thought could have been written better. For one its way too short. I wanna know how this guy heard about this princess. Its a good episode don't get me wrong. Anyway here's:


"Flight to Cloud Castle":


Part 1:


Part 1 opens up to a game of tag. So much fun till a bird interrupts it. Its being chased by a gnome. He grabs Heartthrob. His name is Garth. He tells them of a lover that's under an enchanted spell. He asks if they can get moving to the castle to get to Ariel and the only one who can wake her up if someone rescues her would be able to marry her.

See that's what I don't get. How did Garth know about this floating castle and where did he come from and why didn't we see the princess before a spell was cast on her? Hasbro why? Why didn't you give this episode four parts instead of two.

Heartthrob has him ride on her so she can hear more of what he'd do for Ariel his true love.

Whoever they chose for the voice actor for Garth he has an excellent singing voice. He sings "For my true love" telling them what he'd do to get her. Garth just don't let Spike hear you say you'd slay a dragon or he might give you an earful .

They arrive at where the castle would be. Locket finds the castle. Garth says he doesn't know how to get in since he's never been that close before. The castle starts moving. They try to catch it but to no avail. Garth gives up but they cheer him up and tell him that they can work together.

They have an idea. Corner it. But then they are stopped by a monster. They try to go over but are stopped by another monster. Heartthrob tells Garth to remember his love. They decide to tie it down. But the castle twirls them around and their tossed aside to end part 1.


Part 2:


Part 2 opens up as they are about to hit a mountain but Garth uses his gnome magic on it to turn it to mud. He tells them he has that power. But they are back at square one. They ask him if he could do that to the castle but he says no since its enchanted.

Locket says they could catch the castle if it weren't for the monsters guarding it. Garth tells us what they are. An Undine a water demon and a Salamander a fire demon. They think of an idea to diffuse both the monsters' powers. They try and tackle the castle again and get both monsters attention. They turn both their powers on one another.

Now they can go in. Its a maze and Garth shows another spell with a magic pouch. They walk into the next room and they set off a floor trap. Once in the bedroom they see Ariel but before he can kiss her the Undine and Salamander start attacking again. They fight them but the Salamander engulfs the bed in fire. He lures the Salamander to use his power on the Undine again. They tell Garth to shake the castle which throws stuff on the Salamander and the Undine.

He kisses Ariel which wakes her up. This turns the monsters back to her servants. Ariel decides not to take either of them or Garth. The castle starts falling since the spell is broken. They insist on him helping them and he does. But they are not out of the woods yet. The castle is crumbling. They get out in time and Heartthrob thinks this isn't fair that he doesn't get her and Ariel agrees to letting him have her and they leave to end the episode.


Good Points:


-That Garth would have gone great lengths for Ariel.
-"For my true love" was plot worthy and very well sang by Garth.
-That Garth got Ariel in the end.


Bad Point:


-The fact that this was a two parter made it seem kinda rushed. I wanted to see how Garth knew about this floating castle, Ariel and the monsters.


Not a bad episode just felt rushed to me. 9.5/10. Next weekend will be..... Ugh. "The Ice Cream Wars" review which will also be done with "The Prince and the Ponies" since they both feature the first tooth ponies and the newborn twins. Yep a double review next Saturday. Then next Sunday will be the last review of "Friends" episodes "Somnambula". Then after that I begin the "Tales" episodes reviews.

Anyway here's my dual review. First here's:


"The Ice Cream Wars" review:


The episode opens up with five first tooth ponies trying to babysit two sets of unruly twins. The first tooth ponies are named Baby Lickety-Split, Baby Tic-Tac-Toe, Baby Quackers, Baby Northstar and Baby Fifi. Ugh. Do I really have to point out why two of the first tooth ponies are named that? I guess I should. Baby Quackers is named because get this. She quacks with every stinking sentence she says. And I bet you can't guess why Baby Fifi is named that? Yep because she sounds like someone from France.

Anyway the twins are named as such. The purple colored ones are named Sniffles and Snookums and the yellowish twins are Milkweed and Tumbleweed. Okay I have to ask WHY LEAVE FOUR PONIES WHO ARE STILL IN THEIR BABY STAGES!? That right there is bad parenting. You know what never mind. Let's continue on with this review. The only redeeming factor of this episode are those cute little newborn twins. Especially when Snookums knocks a bowl of food on Fifi's head .

Anyway they all go into this whole song "Babysitting" while they complain how hard it is. Okay I don't know who wrote this but babysitting is not that hard. Sure it can be a pain sometimes but its a joy at most. The song would be enjoyable if A. They wouldn't have Baby Quackers quacking during her parts and B. They wouldn't have had them say how hard this is. Okay yes they look like a handful but so was my niece. Jeez. I'd hate to see how they'd react to babysitting the cake twins. They'd probably give up the first five minutes they started.

Baby Lickety-Split tries to convince them to eat but gets a bowl knocked onto her head as well. She suggests going to the "Satin Slipper Sweet Shoppe" for ice cream. Oh sure get them more hyper.

They get there but Scoops says they are out. Rocky Ripple and Fudgy Mcswain have had a fight and now Rocky Ripple is trying to run Fudgy out of business and no one knows what they fought over. Baby Lickety-Split decides to go and talk to Rocky. Yeah like that's gonna work. Baby Lickety-Split says that he might listen since their kids. Ha. Sometimes adults don't listen to kids.

Anyway they talk to Rocky and he won't talk to Fudgy because he believes that Fudgy stole his ice cream recipe. Also cute kids? More like annoying brats. Also I don't think Fudgy took it. I mean look at Rocky he's getting things mixed up. Maybe he accidentally put the recipe somewhere. Ooh Double Banana marshmallow collada. That sounds yummy.

They decide to talk to Fudgy but he won't listen either. He says he's owed the apology and they tell him that Rocky is just confused. Nah ya think? Uh your newborn twins? Your not old enough to have babies yet. I guess they mean that they are babysitting.... You know what SCREW TRYING TO ANALYZE THIS EPISODE! Its making my head hurt. Anyway Fudgy says he'll make peace with Rocky for them.

Fudgy says he'll help look for it but an ice cream machine shoots a scoop at Fudgy which now gets them to fight again. That went well *Rolls eyes*. And in all the commotion the newborn twins are set on a conveyor belt. See what I mean? They're not good babysitters. THEY'RE WORSE THAN MEGAN!

Megan:
Hey I resent that.

I'm just saying. You're not as bad as they are. You're way better than them.

Megan:
Okay.

Anyway they get them out and go back to the sweet shoppe because its the only place safe. And again with the errors? Baby Lickety-Split has a twin. *Sighs* Why Hasbro why?

When they get there Scoops give them her backup ice cream. When they feed them the ice cream Tumbleweed acts like something is in his mouth. Baby Lickety-Split takes it out and guess what it is? The missing recipe. Wow what a nincompoop Rocky is. Putting it in his ice cream mix. They have to stop them before they kill each other. Baby Northstar does something brave and stupid by jumping out in front of both of them. They both stop just in time and Baby Northstar shows them the recipe.

They explain that it was in the ice cream and Rocky and Fudgy are back to being friends again and as thanks they want to give them all ice cream. This makes the first tooth ponies sick to their stomachs at the thought and Baby Lickety-Split says she could go for a nice salad which makes them all laugh to end the episode.


Before I move on to "The prince and the ponies" here's my rave and rant on this episode and the rating.


Good Points:


-The newborn twins were cute.
-The ending was funny.


Bad Points:


-Where do I start? Well the fact that they think babysitting is hard.
-The constant quacking by Baby Quackers got annoying.
-The fact that bumble headed Rocky thought Fudgy stole the recipe. Its an honest mistake I know but he could have talked to him and the whole ice cream war wouldn't have happened.


Not the best episode. 6/10. Hasbro better be lucky I gave it that because anymore things wrong with the episode and I wouldn't even watch it. Is it watchable? For the most part just be warned its kinda annoying.


And now:


"The Prince and the Ponies" review:


This thankfully would be the last time we see the First Tooth ponies but is unfortunate that its the last episode of the series.

The episode opens up as the ponies are invited to a party for the newborn twins which makes the first tooth ponies mad. Seriously? This is the best the writers could come up with? The first tooth ponies comes in wearing a very badly drawn duck costume. Okay I get it. They're babies and they don't know how to make a good costume but for crying out loud make the costume more presentable. The adults say that the newborn twins need a lot of attention but that doesn't mean they don't love them.

The scene shifts to the adults taking the newborn twins to the castle. And boy what a castle it is. Oh jeez Heartthrob. Really? They go into a bedroom that was set up for them and are told that dinner is at eight sharp. The bedroom is huge which is pointed out. They then see a mysterious girl asking them if they've seen her brother. Then she leaves as there is a knock on the door.

Oh good gracious here we go. This lady here is named "Duchess" and her daughter is "Margret (I guess. I never really liked the name so I called her Michelle in my series)". The ponies arrive after she orders the chefs. She asks why there is horses there and her daughter says they are the little ponies. I also want to point out her daughter wants a pet like her mother. Also I have to ask.... DID THEY HAVE FRAN DRESHER PLAY DUCHESS IN THIS EPISODE!? It sure as heck sounds like her. I mean jeez. Listen to that voice. It sounds almost exactly like her.

They go to eat and one of the ponies ask about a strange girl they seen. Duchess asks the guards why Suzett wasn't put in her room. Duchess sees the newborns are tired and suggest they be put down for a nap in their room. Let me go on the record and say if that is Fran Dresher they sure picked the right person to play the Duchess because her voice is ANNOYING!!!!!!!

Back with the First tooth ponies they decide to crash said party. Spike decides to go with them only to stop them.

Back with the ponies they see that the newborn twins aren't in the room. I smell a trap. The guards capture the ponies as an order from the Duchess.

The first tooth ponies are running towards the palace and they sing "Those newborn twins" just to show how jealous they are of them. Good song but good grief more quacking by Baby Quackers. During the song Spike tries to show them that they are only are saying this out of spite.

Back with the others they are locked up with prince Phillip and Buttons uses the keys to free them. We also find out the Duchess isn't really the head but she's actually a cook. Buttons takes the belt off the guard while getting the key so when he sees them free he trips . The prince pushes on a block to open a secret passageway.

The first tooth ponies arrive and there's no way in. A passage opens and there stands Suzett. She lets them in.

Back with the others they find another passageway that leads to more guards.

The first tooth ponies look down to see their wish come true. The newborns being pets. But now that they see it they wish this hadn't happened. More guards sees them and they fight back. The first tooth ponies are seen fighting back and Phillip shows the guards what the Duchess has done. They put her back to what she once was as a cook. The prince thanks them and the ponies are happy to have the newborn twins back even the first tooth ponies. This ends the episode.


Good Points:


-They see they need to be careful what they wish for.
-The newborn twins yet again. I can't help it they are too darn cute.


Bad Points:


-The jealousy of the first tooth ponies. It was okay but a little over the edge.
-Duchess' voice. I mean good grief.
-That we needed two first tooth ponies episodes.


Again not the best episode. 6/10. Tomorrow I wrap up the "Friends" episodes reviews and move onto "Tales" with "Somnambula" review.

Somnambula. You know this villain is actually very villainous. The episode isn't too bad just a few things wrong. Hard to believe this is the last review of "Friends" I will do. Next week is my "Tales" reviews. So without further ado:


"Somnambula" review:


Part 1:


Part 1 opens up with the ponies getting ready for the return of "The big brother ponies". Yeah apparently there were colts in "Friends".

They sing "Big brother ponies" and its sang okay just I hate the nasally voice of Truly. Seriously they had to pick the actor with a nasal singing voice to sing Truly's part. They wonder if they are going to get lost or not.

Oh Surprise you and your surprises. I wonder what Rainbow Dash would think about her. Buttons scolds her for surprising her and bursting her balloons that she just hung up. As they start putting up replacement balloons they hear circus music. This makes them want to go investigate. A caped person is seen and she makes the music go louder and she brings out a canary and forces her to sing. This puts the ponies into a trance. By the way this is our villain Somnambula.

Truly is teaching some baby ponies to play instruments right. They also hear the singing but apparently Truly doesn't. The other ponies go to the sound and we see Somnambula's face and she creates a circus for them to go to.

Meanwhile the big brother ponies are seen. Their names are Salty, Tex, Quarterback, Slugger, Steamer and 4-speed. When they arrive in Ponyland they notice everyone is gone except Truly and the baby ponies. They explain what happened and the big brother ponies go to find the others.

Back with the ponies Somnambula is making the circus real since she has enough power. Somnambula forces her canary to sing again and Truly is now seen leaving. Even the big brother ponies which they douse with water to wake them up. They go to rescue the rest to end part 1.


Part 2:


Part 2 opens up with the big brother ponies standing near a door and they open it. They see the circus and something doesn't feel right as they see the ponies and try to get their attention. They see that they are all getting old. They start getting worried. A crevice is seen and all the big brother ponies favorite stuff.

They all sing "Hey Let's Play/No Let's Go" while some are goofing off and the others are trying to convince them its all a trap. And this song is sang really great by the big brother ponies. They are convinced but Somnambula has her canary sing again and they are all put in a trance. Somnambula leaves her canary and she breaks free and sees Spike and the baby ponies. They convince her to sing again so they can break the trance. They head in and Kyrie (The name of the canary) sings a different song and breaks the trance.

But where are the unicorns? Somnambula comes by and stops them but they all fight back as the others try and find the unicorns. They find the unicorns and their gathered around a crystal which is sapping the energy and Somnambula muzzles Kyrie and chains the big brother ponies who break free and break her crystal which makes Somnambula lose her youth. The ponies get their youth back and Buttons and Slugger exit the shaft and they head home to end the episode.


Good Points:


-Good story line and a good villain.
-Both songs were plot worthy.
-The big brother ponies were cool.


Bad Point:


-The nasally singing of Truly in "Big Brother ponies" ugh.


Good episode and very well thought up. 9.5/10. Next week begins my "Tales" reviews with the "Slumber Party" review.

"Tales" reviews intro:


Well this would be the last actual my little pony series till "Friendship is Magic" since G2 only had a game and G3 and G3.5 would have movies. Tales was my childhood but as some of you already know I watched a bit of "My little pony and friends" when I was younger. Tales went like this:

Every morning on the Disney Channel you'd have shows like "Winnie the Pooh" and a few Disney related cartoons (Back then it was Donald Duck cartoons, Mickey Mouse etc.) then at 10:00 a.m. "My little pony tales" came on. Up to season 2 of the friends episodes that's what they had. Then once the last episode of friends was done they had a change of pace. My little pony was no longer about unicorns, pegasi, and earth ponies. My little pony was about teenaged ponies going through different crisis. Highschool crushes, finding out someone is a princess. battling against boy ponies you name it. The series lasted only one season which I think is sad. They could have had a second season where they were in college or something. Anyway I digress.

So without further ado the first ever "Tales" episode I'm going to review:


"The Slumber Party" review:


The theme kinda gives us a rundown of all the girls but here are their names. Bright Eyes, Patch, Clover, Bon-Bon, Starlight, Sweetheart and Melody. I'll tell you of the boys when we see an episode of them later. Also there are other ponies like the moms, dads, brothers and sisters but again I'll tell you them when they are introduced.

So the episode opens up with the girls at a sleepover at Sweetheart's house (If you didn't guess from the title that is). They are playing charades and Clover is up to do it and its fictional characters. They guess "Three Little Pigs" after telling Clover she can't talk while doing it and Bon-Bon forgets there were seven dwarves.

They all go for ice cream sundaes that her parents made. Bright Eyes points out some stuff and they all get sprayed with whipped cream. And there goes the light. They mention ghost and eat the sundae.

Afterwards they get ready for bed and Patch does her impression of Ms. Hackney. This by the way is their teacher. Pillow fight. You can't have a slumber party without a pillow fight right Twilight Sparkle?

Twilight Sparkle:
That's what my guide to a sleepover says.

This causes a mess and Sweetheart's mom comes in and tells them she thought she said its bedtime. They pretend to go to sleep.

Later that night they tell ghost stories. Patch tells them of the story of a pony named "Squire" who lives not very far from where they are now. Paradise Lake? Very sneaky Disney putting the word "Paradise" in there. Anyway he was going after a dragon but it got away so every so often his ghost shows up looking for the dragon. The dragon's name was Basil. This is after he sees a serpent. He also fell into a hole so that's how the dragon got away.

They hear a noise thinking its Squire. They go to investigate. When they get up there they see a shadow which they think is Basil but its actually an old sheet.

They sing "Things aren't always what they seem" to show that sometimes our eyes can play tricks on us. Good song by the way .

They keep searching and find out its Springfield Sweetheart's cat. Later that night Squire's ghost visits Patch to thank her for telling his story. He goes to continue his search. Sweetheart wakes up and asks Patch who she was talking to and she says nobody as we see Squire leave to end the episode.


Good Points:


-That the season opener had a ghost story.
-"Things aren't always what they seem" was a good song.
-That there really was a Squire and he came to visit Patch to thank her for telling his story.

Good episode. One of the best "Tales" episodes. Just wish they had adventures like the ponies in "Friends". Oh well. 10/10. Tomorrow is the "Too Sick to notice" review.

"Too sick to notice" review:


The episode opens up as Bon-Bon is getting ready to go with her dad to the cinema when suddenly the house starts shaking. What is it? An earthquake? Naw. Its Bon-Bon's baby brother who's sick. His sneezing is so big its making the house shake. Its making pillow feathers fly everywhere.

"That's an awfully big sneeze from such a little guy" that's an understatement. Its like a volcano is in him and every time he sneezes it starts erupting. This of course cancels Bon-Bon's plans to go to the cinema since her father has to get medicine for her brother.

She tries to get her mom to braid her hair but she can't do that and hold onto Bon-Bon's baby brother as well. She tells her to ask Misty and of course she makes Misty mess up the measuring.

Bon-Bon thinks Rusty will play with her but of course he's folding clothes so when she jumps in the pile she makes them messy again.

Bon-Bon sings "A little attention" to show she is a bit jealous of him getting all the attention. That sounds familiar. *Looks at the first tooth ponies*

First Tooth Ponies:
What?

*Sighs* Anyway she decides to fake being sick so she'll get all the attention. This backfires of course because when her friends come over her parents have to tell them the same thing.

After awhile she sees that this caused more of a problem and she confesses. After they feel relieved her whole family falls ill. Karma baby. Before she tends to them she checks up on her baby brother who feels better. After doing that she tends to all of them and her friends come to see how she's doing and she also confesses to them.

She's glad she has a whole family to take care of. This ends the episode.


Good Points:


-That Bon-Bon realized that she was being jealous of her baby brother getting all the attention and not her.
-"A little attention please" was a good song.


Bad Point:


-That she faked being sick to get attention.


Above all not a bad episode. 9.5/10. Next up is the "Battle of the Bands" review which has my favorite "Tales" song in it "Sweet Music".
