This movie is awesome. My question is "Why didn't Hasbro stick with this form of animation for the rest of G3 instead of going with the chibi look for G3.5?" Probably thought that since some companies were going with the whole chibi idea they'd try it. *Minty clears her throat* Oh right. That's not why we're here. We're not her to rant on a generation that should have never existed we're here to review a movie based off an awesome character. So without further ado the first G3 movie (And the first ever Christmas My Little Pony movie ever):
"A Very Minty Christmas" review:
The movie opens up with a song called "That's what I love about Christmas" good song. Now what's this got to do about ponies you ask? During the song we see all the main ponies for this movie. During the song we see them decorating for Christmas.
Anyway their getting ready for Santa. Their all deciding on flavors for the "Here comes Christmas candy cane" and Cotton Candy having trouble with the Christmas lights. I feel your pain Cotton Candy I can't untangle my lights very easily either
. They decide on the flavor Mint. Since Pinkie Pie is the MC that year they thought they'd make it pink and mint. Pinkiemint.
We then turn to some ponies putting together a snowman and they leave to go to hear Pinkie Pie make a speech. And here's the star of the movie Minty.
Minty:
I'm not that big of a star DJ.
Pony feathers Minty. Sure your clumsy but hey that's what makes you special. Anyway she sees the snowman's head is off a bit and fixes it but makes the head topple.
Minty:
See what I mean? I'm nothing but a klutz. Maybe you should do this review without me.
Ah. Minty this movie is about you. Besides everyone here at My little Pony Lexicon loves you. Al even says the early "G3 movies" are cute. Please stay Minty.
Minty:
Oh alright.
Thanks. Anyway she puts the head back on and heads to the ceremony. They all cheer Pinkie Pie on as she thanks last year's host. Pinkie Pie introduces the candy cane as they bring it in. Oh Thistle Whistle
. I also love her. By the way she's scared of clouds which is a contradictory but hey that's fine. I mean look at it this way Blades from Rescue Bots is scared of heights and he turns into a helicopter.
Anyway as they bring it in Minty steps on everyone's toes. She wants to see the candy cane of course. She talks about her socks which she loves. These come into play later.
Pinkie Pie asks Star Catcher to put the candy cane in place. They go to get things ready. Except Minty who sees it off a bit. She hollers for her pegasi friends but decides to take a balloon to fix it. She is going to ask Santa for flying lessons this year. As she tries to fix it she almost lets it drop.
By the way let me just say that none of the ponies in this movie are jerks unlike the ones in "Escape from Catrina" who picked on poor Sundance. Anyway as Minty is trying to make the candy cane more straight her friends are getting the preparations for Christmas ready. Minty continues to try to make the candy cane straight but one more tap and..... oops. There goes the candy cane. Uh I think it just did. She sees that its more broken than it looks. She loses hope.
Now if anyone has read my retelling of this movie I added one thing to this part to show her friends could understand. Also I'm working on a story where she has a baby right now
.
Anyway she goes to confess to Pinkie Pie instead of just covering it up. See now that's what your supposed to do. There's a lesson to be learned in this movie. Well actually another lesson coming up too. The ponies ask if she is ready for Christmas as she passes by trying to confess what happened.
As Pinkie Pie gets things ready Rainbow Dash compliments her on her decorations..... and watch out Minty. Gotta love the entry by her. See even Pinkie Pie isn't a jerk when she knew it was an accident and even tells her she can help put up a banner (Which the pegasi disagree in silence. I guess not to be rude). Minty tries to confess to her what happened before. After a failed attempt at talking to Pinkie Pie Minty decides to go home.
Minty tries to decide on what to do as she frets over what had happened. Minty it was an accident girl. You didn't mean to break it. She decides to do the right thing by dressing up as Santa to make sure no one is disappointed. Now that right there is being selfless. See this is what the true meaning of Christmas is. Giving to other selflessly. And Minty is showing it by giving the thing she loves most.... Socks.
She sings "Nothing says Christmas like a pair of socks" as she shows us how useful socks can be. Huh never thought of it that way. By the way good song and what a good friend she is.
Minty:
Its the least I could do to make sure everyone had a Merry Christmas.
See? Even if you are clumsy you are very smart and very giving of yourself.
Minty:
I guess so. *Smiles*
She goes on her Santa mission. Giving everyone socks. Even when someone hears her she goes "Ho, ho, ho." and they think its Santa except Pinkie Pie. When she sees Minty she asks why she's there instead of Santa. When Minty confesses she almost gets strict. But being a good friend she doesn't get all that mad. After seeing Minty's thoughtfulness Pinkie Pie tells her not to cry and she'll think of something. That's a good friend right there
.
Pinkie Pie tells her to go to the North Pole but before Minty can hear that she shouldn't go alone she leaves. Oh dear is right Pinkie. Minty goes to the balloons. Wait? I thought you couldn't fly one? She runs into Thistle Whistle and explains what she's doing. Thistle Whistle has a point and Minty tries to convince her to go but can't so she leaves by herself. Pinkie Pie tries to tell her she shouldn't go alone and tells Thistle Whistle to go after her even with the clouds. And even with all the clouds she goes after her. Boy what thoughtfulness of her friends. I mean wow.
See this is why I love this movie. Everyone cares only about their friends not themselves. G3 was a good year for MLP. That's not to say the others weren't. Minty knocks over the tree and the others come out after the commotion and Pinkie Pie tells them what happened while Thistle Whistle looks for Minty as they is happening. Again thoughtfulness. People who go crazy around Christmas for shopping should see a movie like this

Minty is on her way to the North Pole and arrives there but is knocked off course by the weather. Thistle Whistle to the rescue. But now their both in trouble.
Back at Ponyville her friends get ready for a rescue mission. Back with Thistle Whistle and Minty, Minty decides to head back but they hit a cliff and burst the balloon. Now their in trouble but the others arrive just in time to save them
. They head back to the North Pole for shelter till the weather clears up.
When they get there they see the workshop and home to the elves and Santa. They see a note from Santa. Their too late
. Oh well. They're all together. Star Catcher says that none of this matters since Minty took them to the special place in her heart
. They all hug which causes a light to glow from them which magically lights up Ponyville. That's really "Friendship" magic. They head home.
We hear "Magic of Christmas" as they head home. I love this song. Heck I love all the songs on this movie
.
When they arrive the tree is back up and has a new candy cane on top and Minty's socks on it and they thank her. And each has treats in them. See Minty? It all worked out great.
Minty:
I guess it did. *Giggles*
They figure out that its not the glow of the candy cane but the love they have for each other that shows the way. Yeah I think Star Catcher hit the proverbial nail on the head
. There's even a note from Santa. The note is from Santa who thanks Minty for her "Sock" idea and asks if he can use them from now on.
Minty sings "Very Minty Christmas" which is an awesome reprise of the first song
. Minty starts trying to straighten her sock and they all say "Minty" which gets her to say "What" and they all laugh to end the movie.
Good Points (And believe it or not no bad ones):
-The whole movie.
-Minty. What can I say. I love Minty she's a good character.
-The whole movie shows what Christmas is truly about.
-Every song in the movie was great.
Great movie. Loved it, loved it, loved it.
Minty:
Yeah but your decorations could use a little straightening. A little to the left. More to the right?

Just kidding.
This movie very well done and watchable. 10/10. Next up is the "Princess Promenade" movie review.
